Ridiculous stoppage but to be fair Rose isn't genuine world class. He's been very well placed and he's taken his ability beyond where it should've got him.

I hoped Carson would pack in after the 2nd bout with Brook, shows how much I know - an excellent result for him. Rose can come again but isn't a bona fide high world level boxer, he's good at what he does when he's in his groove and really, European level is very successful and a career to be proud of.

I've stopped gambling but I was thisclose to putting some on Carson Jones by KO/TKO at 6-1. Stupid morals/code of conduct!

Carson looked in good nick at the weigh in and has consistently fought at a higher level than rose. Also after watching a few interviews with him, realised he still had motivation and is still only 28. That made me think that if he came to win he had a very good chance at scoring the upset.

Jones looks in great shape for this, I think he will take Rose out and at 6/1 for Jones to get the KO...I will be having some of that! :OhYes:

IJL :shame:

Im not saying anything that hasn't already been said but I feel for Rose,he's no world beater but his career's in Limbo now, that wefewee has ruined more fights than anyone I know(and I've seen Junior Witter) When will he be demoted?

People can harp on about if it was Jones who was stopped then it would be OK blah blah but it doesn't make it right

Last night's show in Blackpool was terrible for officiating, premature stoppages, horrendous scoring,KD 's being wrongly awarded

Not great TBH,I hope for the sake of Brian's career that Jones give him the rematch,Fast Car Eddie better get his wallet out so every cloud........

Does Hearn have any sway over who gets appointed as officials for his cards? I know theoretically it's down to the Board, but Hearn can't have been happy with IJL last night, would be amazed if he didn't raise a fuss behind the scenes.

Well done that man.... he seems thoroughly likeabe and a hell of a scrapper.

Feel for Rose, No he's not the best out there but he's again a very likeable guy with some abillity, it seems as though he got caught cold by a very well placed shot. I would like to see him rebuild at domestic level if the fights can be made. Alternatively for a bit of quick cash look at stepping up to 160 for an all matchroom showdown to build RYder up.
Ryder would decapitate him, I didn't like the stoppage last night at all but there was no doubt that Jones hurt him, imagine what Ryder (or any middleweight with decent pop) would do to him.
I agree that 154 domestic scene is where he should be fighting next, if I was Eddie I would tuck him away on an undercard next against Oecheng and build from there.

Good win. I put £25 on Jones weeks ago at 4/1. I also put tenner on Doran at 8-1.
I still have Jones in loads of active accumulators.

BUT I lost £100 at 2/1 on Ormond, and also a tenner on a Jones / Ormond bounce which gave 14/1.....

So up £70, but bit disappointed with Ormond

Just watched the show, personally I had no issue with the stoppage.

Clearly Rose was hurt, he didn't cover up, he didn't clinch, he didn't take a knee. If he'd have let Rose take another big shot & he'd have got badly hurt than all we'd be hearing now is why didn't he stop it earlier. The referee has to think of a fighter's safety. The referee had very little choice but to stop it.

The rules say that if a fighter is not in a position to defend himself, then ref has to stop the fight. After the last punch, Rose wasn't in that position, so the IJL correctly stopped the fight. It's not difficult really.

Always good to see IJL do that thing where he gets in between fighters as if to stop the fight, pause, panic for a sec, thinking if the rules allow a standing count, then finally wave it off.

Give me one example where a late stoppage in the early rounds has led to injury?

Rose-Jones, I've heard Bri bruised his foot kicking that fire exit.

You're wrong mick. It was kicking the chair that did it.

I really can't go Ian John-Lewis, i think it's aj oke that the BBBoC continue to use him even after some of his well documented PF scorecards or for example, the enzo stoppage.

Last night, i didn't think the stoppage was that bad, but he looked out-of-control of the bout when stopping it. He was leaping around like an excitable puppy.

As for the stoppage itself, i'm 1 of the fans who belives it's a tough man's sport and generally let them go on if possible, I would say a little early, but i didn't hate it, Rose was badly shaken and looked a sitting duck to me.

Not the worse stoppage i've seen but still far too early. Rose took more damage against Andrade but then the American refs sometimes let it go on far too long. Rose seems like a smashing lad and will get the rematch. What I don't understand tho is why he's not willing to fight again at british level, there is no shame in being a british level fighter.

Not just on this performance but overall I can't believe ijl still has regular work. Clearly not good enough as a judge or ref and surely he knows this.

Ian John Lewis. PLEASE, I've said this many times before and I'm not in the habit of telling people to quit doing something they love unless they are utterly shit, But, Ian, PLEASE RETIRE, YOU ARE A JOKE.

As for the stoppage, I cannot see how a professional level boxer with a career hanging on these decisions should ever be stopped in that situation. He was on wobbly legs, so what, he was covering up for the most part and had to be given a chance to recover. Rose is nowhere near world class though, never was, a good domestic level fighter and possibly fringe Euro level at best.

Jerome Wilson should have been stopped 4 or 5 punches earlier. Not saying it was early rounds but certainly the ref was slow getting in which resulted in a heavy ko and a seriously injured boxer

I have only just watched the fight video now, as I wanted to check out the "controversial" stoppage.

I must say, I have seen far worse. He was taking a bit of punishment, but given that it was the first round and there was a whole fight to go, Brian should have taken a knee. That may have given him some much needed time to recuperate.

Stoppage was ok imo. He recovered quickly but at the point of stoppage was "gone" and not in a position to defend himself.

I really don't get all the controversy.

This is an era where it is well known the referees will prefer to stop to early rather than to late. Many are arguing that point but Rose was hurt enough not to clinch, cover up or take a knee, referee had no other choice.
