Murray seemed to just go for it in the first three or rounds and see what happened, because he knew that he sat back and let Golovkin come on to it would only be a matter of time before he got overwhelmed which is what happened. Monroe is a taller fighter than Murray, more lighter on his feet and naturally a backfoot counter puncher.
And is the height, and the backfoot counterpunching nature of Monroe and his better footwork in comparison to Murray which is why I feel its going to take Golovkin at least three or four rounds to figure Monroe out and cut the ring off and apply some 'Mexican' style fighting for him to break down and stop Willie Monroe in the time frame I mentioned in my first post. It will be an interesting fight to watch while it lasts. But Golovkin will have his 20th successive knockout victim.
Exactly. The styles and just the athleticism of Monroe indicate a a longer night as opposed to a shorter one.

Whether the odds makers will have it in the matter that we both have it in our minds' eyes remains to be seen, because they may focus on the fact Willie Monroe has only six knockouts in his 19 wins, plus level of competiton he has faced prior to the title shot.

To be honest most people will complain about GGG's opponent at 160, no matter who it is. I won't complain because he is willing to take on anyone, and is fighting often. I like the fact that he isn't shying away from any particular style of guy, even if he is an up and comer like Monroe.
GGG has conditioned us to expect a KO every time he fights, and this fight will be no different. Whether Monroe will be elusive enough to last 12 is the question, and if he does it will be an accomplishment for him. He may surprise us.

Just watched Munroe v Vera. Can not see why people are moaning about this Munroe looks a decent fighter to me.

Cotto is scared to get knocked out.
Andy Lee got paid off to fight Quillin.
Quillin is gonna be hidden from Golovkin until the end of his career. If Haymon was hiding him from Korobov, why would he put him in with GGG?
Daniel Jacobs is protected by Haymon.
Jermain Taylor is gonna be going from courtroom to courtroom in the next 10 years.
Lemieux is going to fight N'Jikam for the IBF title. A fight with GGG is possible in the near future though.
Canelo is fighting at 154 for now. They could fight at some point. Now this fight just doesn't make sense.
GGG is cleaning out the division and that's the right way to go if people don't want to fight you. He's gonna get the WBC belt either by Cotto vacating or fighting him (and getting ktfo'd). Then a unification with Lemieux/N'Jikam winner is possible. If he gets the third belt I can see the same thing happening as the Light Heavyweight division. Kovalev has 3 belts and the WBC Haymon fighter Stevenson is protected. Same thing would happen with Quillin, unless by some miracle Lee actually wins that fight.
This sums up what I think pretty well.

Not only he looks like a decent fighter, he's not short on confidence either.

Why are people bringing up height as a factor in this fight? Monroe is 5'10", essentially the same height as GGG and 2 inches shorter than Martin Murray. In terms of his record and current standing in the sport, Monroe is a poor opponent for GGG at this stage of his career. However, stylistically it is quite an interesting fight and I wouldn't be surprised to see Monroe win some rounds.
Keep in mind that Monroe beat Brian Vera far more convincingly than Chavez Jr did in either of their fights (I'd argue that Vera won the first).

I think GGG will win this easily after he catches up with Willie. Not that I thought before that Monroe had a good chance to win, but think it is a real long shot for sure. Hope it at least goes 10 rounds though.

You're thinking of Willie Nelson.

Me either but I thought it's worth mentioning and then let's see if anything else develops later. It may be that it's just too fresh right now and the other networks haven't picked it up yet but if this is the case then Monroe is an idiot and is basically fighting for nothing more than money.
That would be a shame if he wins and doesn't get a title for it or worse, he gets KTFO and only ends up with a payday for it.

He probably realizes that his only slim chance is to get super-juiced :)

This is willie Monroe and this video is very funny because u don't know what ur talkin about we never signed to fight for the WBC we only signed to fight for the WBA and the WBC never contacted me or my team for any of the test or mandatory weigh in don't u find it funny that they released this 30 day stuff 22 days before the fight lol it's called politics brotha they are tryna secure his fight with cotto after I beat him thanx for the "LOVE" my brotha I don't need yall to believe in me because God has my back and I'm not making the money yall think I'm makin because if so I would be able to afford the sanctioning fees for all the belts make sense right?
From the comments section underneath that video. Looks like it is probably his official youtube account:

Very simple explanation...
The PR release from the WBC arrived and I read it, and my mind started to wander.
Yikes…
Non-compliant, huh?
What’s going on here? We have a rogue underdog mentally spitting the bit? Why wouldn’t upstate New York middleweight Willie Monroe Jr. want to attend to WBC rules and weigh in, do the right thing?
Well, Monroe’s promoter, Arthur Pelullo, clarified the situation for me, and offered a common sense response.
First, read the WBC’s release:
“WILLIE MONROE JR. – NON-COMPLIANCE WITH WBC SAFETY RULES
“The World Boxing Council hereby informs that boxer Willie Monroe Jr., who will fight Gennady Golovkin on May 16 at The Forum in Los Angeles, has notified via his promoter, Art Pelullo from Banner Promotions, that he will not comply with the WBC safety requirements. Consequently, he will not compete for the WBC interim championship in possession of Gennady Golovkin, and in case he wins, he will not be the mandatory opponent for Miguel Cotto’s championship.
“Willie Monroe Jr. will not submit the safety 30-day weigh-in, the safety 7-day weigh-in, and will not present the mandatory thorough medical examinations as required by the WBC.
“It is truly regrettable that Monroe has made this decision. However the WBC will certainly cover him with life insurance and medical expenses benefit, as he is fighting in a WBC championship bout.
“The WBC is very proud of our champion Gennady GGG Golovkin and we wish both fighters the best of luck in this important fight returning to the great traditional Forum in Los Angeles.”
So, according to the Pennsylvania-based Pelullo, all is well, the May 16 fight will be a go, his kid is ready to go, and there’s nothing to worry about. The reason Monroe isn’t doing the WBC weigh-in is because he’s not vying for a WBC belt. He’s going for Golovkin’s WBA strap, not the WBC interim title, nor the IBO crown held by the Kazakhstani hitter.
Makes sense from a frugality perspective … Monroe will merely be paying one sanctioning fee, instead of three.

Monroe runs a lot at the best of times, so heaven knows the kind of trackshoes he'll don for GGG.
there will be more exchanges in 2 or 3.rounds of Gonzalez - Sosa than on the top of the bill.

It would be funny if Monroe beat GGG. Talk about a wrench in the cog for so many bandwaggoners.

With who, I don't think anyone but the judges saw Chavez as winning the first fight.

The only chance of that happening is GGG getting injured.
