Khan-Brook is a showpiece event for British boxing and a big fight in world boxing. I have heard Andy Murray, Paulie Malignaggi, Michelle Phellps all discussing it and questioning why Khan doesn't want the fight. This being discussed on a boxing forum hardly points to an agenda.
The abuse that Brook received on here for pulling out of one fight in 10 years was vicious.
With the limited options for Khan at the moment, this is obviously a clear duck, big fight, big crowd, big money and a title to go with it,and of course Brook is apparently levels below Khan.Khan has always been slagged for taking the easy options, and now he claims it's an easy fight but legs it :witzend:

Khan's got options, there's a few names on the table for him in the US, possibly on terrestrial TV over there, he can wait around for a possible Mayweather/Pacquiao fight and obviously the Brook fight is an option. I'd say he has better options than Brook at the moment. I don't get the feeling the size of the crowd will interest him, he can make good money in America, especially with some of the purses being paid at the moment, Robert Guerrero got $2.5 million for fighting Thurman, and the title does nothing for him. Khan will make his decision based on what he and his team feel is in his best interests, right now a fight with Brook is down the queue IMO.

Al Haymon will make decisions, and the guy couldn't care less how many tickets Eddie could sell. Khan would box Kell tomorrow, I'm pretty sure, it's just not that simple sometimes.

And sorry, PS, I just think Khan gets a rough deal on here. He isn't bad value at all!

I'd love to see khan fight brook, but lets be honest a khan fight in the US against half a name is far more lucrative to him and his promoter than him fighting brook in the UK.

Brooks never filled a stadium, khan usually only pulls about 10k seats in the UK its nowhere guaranteed to be a sell out stadium fight yet and are the US TV channels interested in Brook yet?

This fight makes no sense yet, khans not stupid why fight brook now when he can wait for brook to gain some notoriety in the states and the UK public to literally crying blue murder for the fight to happen? That's when this could be bigger than froch v groves.

I doubt that Khan will fight Thurman.

The Brook fight is his biggest-payday and a chance to be one of two welterweight champions with opportunities of an unification fight. Which fight is a better option?

The last person to beat Broner got a Floyd bout, if Khan hammers Broner he'll get a straight shot - that is the pinnacle, surely and wouldn't a Brook bout still be on the table?

In reality, he wouldn't box him last year and he won't box him in the summer. He says he will box him within 12 months although I am far from convinced.

The Broner fight hasn't been made and neither has a guarantee from Floyd. Virgil Hunter said Khan won't be fighting Broner:

That was just an example of some of the purses being paid, Guerrero got that as the opponent, Lee's getting at least $1m to fight Quillin next week, there's big money and exposure available for Khan in America. The Brook fight doesn't bring Khan any closer to Mayweather/Pacquiao, which is what he's after, his best option is to take the fight that moves him closer to a fight with one of those two, even if it's the loser. The title has no value to him.

The title brings a chance of a welterweight unification - your not really in a position to speculate what Floyd/Pac will do.

A unification with Mayweather/Pacquiao, a fight that is potentially there for him whether he beats Brook or not. Apart from the WBA regular titles, it is one of the most worthless world titles in boxing.

The fights are potentially there for Brook except he's not going to turn down a career-high purse.

The Showtime TV executives have a different view to the kid from Preston, as has Juan Manuel Marquez whose trainer said wouldn't entertain a Khan fight because he hasn't got a title.

How can anyone claim to be a world champion when Mayweather and Pacquiao are in the same division? It's a paper title, like Wilder claiming to be heavyweight champion, we all know that Klitschko is the real champion, winning it doesn't give anyone a claim to be the best in the world.

Yeah I agree. Once he retires, there will be loads of positive posts about Khan!

Brits love being negative during a fighter's career but once he retires everyone is kind.

The kid from Preston knows more than Showtime bosses, Sky Sports bosses and Juan Manuel Marquez.

You still haven't told us which fight is worth more than a Brook fight with his worthless title.

Paper title.

Broner, Thurman, Cotto, Bradley.

To be fair, that says more about the media.

Talk about a quiet news day.

Anyone really think Khan gets a Floyd/Manny fight? It's clearly set up for a rematch, possibly a third fight. Then chances are, the two late 30's fighters could well call it a day, having earned £100m+ for 2/3 fights each. Why would they continue just to fight Khan who will bring in chicken feed in comparison and adds nothing to withers legacy?

I think Amir is wasting his time waiting to fight them

Bang on if Floyd gave Maidana a rematch he will do so with Manny as it will be a close fight.

Maybe, maybe not but put yourself in Amir's position. He's been banging on about Mayweather for how long? That is what concentrates his thoughts. Now Mayweather is fighting Pacquiao, Amir is desperate to fight the winner, nothing else is on his radar. In the meantime he is only going to be interested in "safe" fights while he kills time preparing for the mega fight.

If Mayweather v Pacquiao is even remotely close/compelling there will surely be a rematch. Beyond that, why would they keep fighting?

Have to disagree with that.

When Khan fought in Sheffield I don't think ticket sales were that good.

I can speak from my own experiences watching Khan in the flesh at the Manchster Arena.

The Kotelnik fight had most of the top tier cornered off.

The McCloskey fight had a big attendance but the majority of that was the Irish coming over.
