The footage of his fight with Junlong showed just how poor Gavern is now. Junlong is slow and clumsy and seemed unable to miss.expe wrote:Peter Fury - "We had Gavern over for sparring. We sent him away after one spar. He's hopeless"

Joshua is actually finding ways to not hit Gavern, should be jabbing his head off.Boxing Prospect wrote:The footage of his fight with Junlong showed just how poor Gavern is now. Is it Halling with Watt? His commentary on Joshua is embarrassing.

Yes, and it's always embarrassingJ-C wrote:Is it Halling with Watt? His commentary on Joshua is embarrassing.
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
What the hell was Joshua doing hitting him after the bell?
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Point could have come off there, more than one punch thrown well after the bell, nothing accidental about it.

Agreed, he's probably done a Haye- Harrison and bet himself to win by ko in the third.expe wrote:Joshua is actually finding ways to not hit Gavern, should be jabbing his head off.Boxing Prospect wrote:The footage of his fight with Junlong showed just how poor Gavern is now. Hitting after the bell, hitting when a foe is down...a DQ waiting to happen in the future?
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Joshua showing his true colours there?

To be fair you can remove the words 'on Joshua' from that sentence.J-C wrote:Is it Halling with Watt? His commentary on Joshua is embarrassing.
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
I think it's more that he couldn't hit him, not that he was trying not to. Point definitely should have come off after hitting him while he was down.ThereByTheGrace wrote:Agreed, he's probably done a Haye- Harrison and bet himself to win by ko in the third.expe wrote:Joshua is actually finding ways to not hit Gavern, should be jabbing his head off.Boxing Prospect wrote:

Joshua in with a super middle by the looks of it
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
He has hit when his opponent is down before, and point blank denied it when Ed Robinson asked him after. DQ waiting to happen, but perhaps just a bit too eager in those early fights

100% agree. Boxing is so old fashioned. It badly NEEDS a Super Heavyweight Division so shite like this can be kept for the WWE ringMightyWarrior wrote:Joshua in with a super middle by the looks of it

It did look quite blatant the punch when he was down.Boxing Prospect wrote:Hitting after the bell, hitting when a foe is down...a DQ waiting to happen in the future?

Joshua has no class.
Scumbag.
Scumbag.

Job done by Joshua but he looked a little frustrated in there, maybe a bit of ring rust and Gavern was pretty small and unorthodox

Yup, I've been saying that for years. The size gap between 2 boxers in the Heavyweight division as it stands can be ridiculous.ThereByTheGrace wrote:100% agree. Boxing is so old fashioned. Apparently the crowd got him through that one
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Apparently Gavern has a similar style to Kevin Johnson...
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
They keep banging on about this layoff. He boxed late November, he's been out the ring 4 months, not 4 years. Credit to Ed Robinson for pointing it out.
