Worst Hearn card ever, no doubt about it. Not one competitive fight. As mentioned it is just Eggington heading a poor card in a poor Commonwealth title fight where you can get 9/1 on the Lamptey win. The opponents odds in the 8 round tune ups are around 25/1 as you would expect.

Terrible, terrible show. At least we get the US content stuff at prime time, but like at Newcastle (Stevenson fight), the Brum crowd will have plenty of waiting around listening to music and interviews while the US stuff is being shown.

At least the very poor Newcastle, Leeds and Hull fights had at least one competitive enough fight on paper, this truly is a stinker.

I'm (reluctantly) going to Brum show and dreading that. Surely they'll know the schedule and can put fights on that aren't to be televised.

Shafted like you wouldnt believe! I purchased tickets for Gavin v Van Heerden.

Its been nothing but a nightmare with a lack of communication from Matchroom (but theyre quick enough with positive news like announcing May 30th but not even a second thought for Brum ticket holders) from start to finish.

I'm going to support some of the local lads on the bill (Eggington, Breeze, Lennox Clarke etc) but I am really tempted to throw my tickets in the bin and stay in at least then I'd get to see the fights from Texas live.

And yeah agree its a lot like a very poor Friday Fight Nights from a few years ago.

Rose confirmed on his twitter just hes not fighting, was flued up all last week and never trained so back in training only now for another date.

They were quite unlucky to be fair. They cut to Canada around 8.50, and were due to return for Joshua at 10.15 - we had 2 fights on between those, Jeff Saunders in a 4 rounder and Travis Dickinson in an 8 rounder, but both ended in the first round, so we were waiting from around 9.10 - 9.30 with literally nothing on, just music playing. Most of the crowd were enjoying it, but i was driving and completely sober so wasn;t great for me. Travis came in the ring for 9.30, but was sparked out in 2 mins so that was all over by 9.40 and we had just over 35 mins wait for the Canada card to finish and Joshua to come on. Jonny Nelson interviewed JLD (again), then Bradley Saunders, then Kell Brook all separately in the ring so it wasn;t too bad, but it just felt that we were playing second fiddle to the Sky broadcast (which we were). Might be just as bad for you if the mismatches all end early and as you say, there are 2 US fights this time.

That said, if Travis and Jeff went the distance or near enough, it would have actually worked out well. It's a bit shit though, they aint been to Brum for ages and when they do they give you that - Gavin-Van Hearden, Yafai-Megrino, Egginton-Foot (or equivalent) would have been a very very good show.

If you'd have told me a few years back id go a year without going to a show, id think you were daft. They have lost me pretty much. The matchmaking and consistency of decent fights isn't half what it was. Fvkcing shite. I really WANT to want to see shows. I want to see shows advertised that I get excited about, anticipation over seeing them. I'm getting fvck-all of that, any more.

And even if they put a card on that excited me, I wouldn't rush to get tickets

Fully agree. I've not gone to a show in a long time for the same reasons mentioned.

Had enough of having me pants pulled down 10 mins after getting a ticket. I once managed to get my money back (from W_rren too) after complaining about pull outs. It was for the Kevin Mitchell Carl Johanneson fight that eventually made it on a Haye card

Im not particularly disappointed that Rose is no longer on the card. I would much rather see a local prospect than Rose in a 8 round shutout in a confidence builder.

Luke Campbell's opponent is not too bad for the late notice. Aboubeker Bechelaghem(9-6-1), never been stopped but has also never stopped anybody. Hopefully Campbell will impress us all........and march on to the PPV mega fight, battle of the ages, fight of the century.. against Tommy Coyle.

According to Eddie's Twitter, Joshua will ringwalk about 9.45pm, Burns will be on around 10.15pm. Not sure about the rest of the order tho.

Running order for tonight.

Definitely one of the most one sided cards I've been to, show was made slightly bearable by Eggington's fight and the opponent not really being any good but game. Bringing Frankie Gavin in the ring to talk about the PPV was similar to when they used to do the whole 'and heres what you could have won' on bullseye. Only this should have been 'and heres what most of you actually paid to watch'.

Most of the other fights where over that quuickly that I don't really feel I watched them, never really got into them.

Won't be rushing to buy a ticket for a Matchroom show again. The return of boxing to Birmingham they called it! What a joke.
