Borderline. I don't want to believe that mindset. I feel Deontay has proven that he is willing to scrap it out. Honestly, I feel he and his handlers have been aware of his limitations (which he has stated himself). But, now that he is a champion, they understand that it's put up or shut up time. Time will tell. But, I think he will have no choice but to face the best. If he hasn't fought a legitimate contender, or champion within his next two fights, he will lose credibility in my eyes.

Losing credibility doesn't mean anything to Deontay, he fought Molina.

Molina wasn't a choice best for a first defense, but keeping in mind the landscape of the division, he wasn't that bad. I would have loved to have seen him take a stiffer challenge. Keep in mind, Derrick Jefferson was Wlad's first defense of the WBO title. And he had a shot Ray Mercer shortly after that.

I'm sick of the excuses like "he's green" and "he's just starting out". Wilder was an Olympic Boxer and he's been a pro for more than 10 years. In those 10 years, promoters have done a magic show with their marketing making something out of nothing. It's like buying that huge bag of chips only to find a quarter of the bag filled with chips when you opened it.

I don't need to hear excuses, i see what i see. I used the eye test and this is a very basic fighter that just happened to have the right genes to be tall and somewhat athletic. Tall doesn't mean better and just because boxing promoters package this guy up with a nice bow and calls him the American Dream, doesn't mean i'm buying it. If he had some humility and some respect for the game, i'd be easier on him. But to see him yucking it up to the camera, kissing his biceps after knocking out some poor guy who gets knocked out for a living is just pathetic.

I guarantee that Wilder's next fight will be against a guy no one knows. Watch, the avid boxing fan will have to look up this guys credentials. Pathetic.

Before when Wilder was fighting guys in the top 100 people bitched. Top 50 people bitched. The top 25 guys he fought were tomato cans. After he beat Stiverne he immediately became a bum that was over-rated.

Now, in his first defence of his WBC belt, he fights the WBC #7 ranked guy. We all know Molina isn't a world beater, but he was ranked. It would be nice if all the champs fight only top 10 ranked guys. I understand he wanted a softer touch because he broke his hand a few months earlier.

Why hasn't Povetkins team contacted him about a fight? Wilder said he is willing but won't wait around either. Considering that, the only jokes here are the ones calling Wilder a joke.

I'm more of a fan of Stiverne and believed that Wilder was mostly overrated until he beat Bermane in a decently contested bout, now that Wilder has earned my respect and did what he was supposed to although he didn't look excellent doing so people here want to mock him with stupid things like "he's a joke".

He KO'd the guy, so what he got hit, this is a fight and what fighter doesn't get hit at some point. Roy Jones was exposed, Ali was exposed, Pacquiao was exposed.....does this make any of them a joke? They didn't always have great moments and limited fighters beat all of them, are they a joke too??

Wilder's not a joke. The WBC and their rankings definitely are. If talent was learnable Wilder would have some potential, but it's not, so he doesn't. Sadly, Wilder and his papery title are not long for this world...

Let's face it in the boxing world power punching is King. So is speed but in the heavy weight class speed is not really easily come by. His defense or chin has not been tested, but his power is extraordinary.

If I see his fights it gives me the feeling it's slowmotion or something. I have seen amateurs beïng loads faster and I think that if you put Stiverne against anyone good in the ring who fights serious is a big risk for Stiverne his health.

Deontay gets too much flak for being 'carefully' managed. Unlike others he doesn't go around shooting his mouth off, doesn't claim to be the best ever, and is far from boring inside the ring. In fact I'd say that he's the hardest hitting heavyweight for decades.

Obviously he's far from the finished product, so it would be irresponsible to throw him in over his head. With guys like Mark Breland behind him we should be able to enjoy his career for a few years yet. Why throw it all away needlessly?
