Even the likes of Ledwaba was a great win. He was a beast an Manny came to that fight as a short notice stand-in and massive underdog.Ezzard wrote:Duran x2 (one old)jamesmcdonnell wrote:Hmm, I think the quality of Leonard's opponents trumps the volume of Pacquaio's.Ezzard wrote:I think his record is better than Leonard's. Is Pacquiao's career the best career a Boxer had since ~30 years?

I do think that Manny has better career then Floyd. I don't think those losses really mean so much. It is more about who you beat. Floyd has been cherrypicking for hes entire career and avoiding bad matchups. Manny has been fighting anyone. I think there are few guys in Mannys record that would have troubled Floyd. Margarito could have been too much for him. Bradley could have chance to outpoint him with speed. We will never know because Floyd stayed far away from any fights that he was not sure to win.
Now the Manny vs Floyd match is pretty meaningless. Both were well past prime. I think that Manny had diminished more. Has certainly more wear and tear then Floyd and seems to have lost lot of that fire he had earlier. Also Floyd ducking Manny for so long tells us some of that story :geek2:
I think that prime for prime Manny would have won.
There is another man that needs to be brought up when talking about great careers. Although hes not that popular... Wlad.
Manny has made the incredible climb trough weight classes. Wlad has dominated one for years. Both fought everyone and ducked none. (Vitali does not count for obvious reasons).
I know that many people believe that heavyweight is weak division now. I don't think so. I think that the division is harder than ever. By that i mean it is harder to dominate than ever. In the past it was quite usual to rise from lower weights to heavyweight and do well there. Nowadays all who have tried have failed badly. Adamek, Cunningham and Huck all tried and failed. Haye didn't do much better. Unless you count the wins over Barret, Ruiz, Chisora and the narrow decision over ancient Valuev as huge success.
Anyways Wlad has had great career and should be mentioned when talking about the best boxers from resent years. Hard to do more than he has done if you are a big dude :geek2:
