You must not have been following boxing at the time at all as Frampton was the 1/4 favourite for that fight and nobody was picking Martinez to beat him.

I believe that I illustrated my point in my above link. But I would also add that it's very easy to look back on events and criticse others for their opinions. People don't seem to consider the boxing public's perception is an important thing going in to fights and yet for some reason after the bout is over, it's only the result that matters.

It's a very fickle thing - this perception - and I tend to think that it is well worth remembering the landscape of things going in to fights.

Are you having a laugh or do you actually think that Calzaghe over shot RJJ was a good pick?

As for me, while hardly my best pick a recent one where I was more accurate than the majority here was Jack over Groves. I had seen Jack fight several times and believe he didn't perform to his full potential, while I also knew that first round stoppage losses can be misleading. He struck me as someone who could be a top 10 fighter if he was on his game, and the win over Dirrell was better than any win on Groves's record in my view, not to mention that GGG hadn't looked so hot going into the fight. While I understand why Groves was a favorite the volume of people choosing him to win by blowout stoppage surprised me.

I doubt anyone will believe me (I've had some absolute shocker the other way) but I did predict Douglas to beat Tyson. I was 10 at the time, but thought Douglas was being way overlooked.

Yes it was a Sunday. I recall having a bet with a guy at work and he said if Watson won he'd give me his putter too! i was so chuffed next time we played golf :-)

I picked Evander to beat Tyson first time too and groves vs degale. I've had some shockers though. golota vs lewis was one of those :-(
