Since this is in British/Irish I'll stick to the theme.

Hopkins/Calzaghe. I had Joe by 1 point but it was certainly debatable.. would've loved to have seen the look on Joe's face if it went the other way.

For me it's Paul Smith Jr vs Arthur Abraham 1. Paul showed fantastic heart that night and, although I had him losing, it would have been great for Paul too win a world title.

Without having a pop at you and especially Michael Watson - Eubank had THAT THING inside of him that makes the difference between a boxer with talent & a great fighter. Watson was TOUGH with a capital everything but his DNA just wasn't made up that way, same as Johnny Owen. Our sport is littered with tough men who got hurt one way or another, We can put it down to this or that decision but sometimes the sport is just too tough.

Got to disagree. - he miscalculated the referee's actions in the heat of the moment, thinking that he was waving the fight off. He dropped his guard and was totally unprepared for the huge uppercut that Eubank Brought all the way up from his boots. That shot was an absolute humdinger, and snapped his head right back.

I thought Watson beat him fair and square in their first fight, he outboxed Eubank, and even outfought him In the trenches, to the extent that Eubank suggested he was taking PED's after the fight (perhaps not being entirely serious, it was hard to tell) and should have got the decision, - so to suggest he lacked that certain something doesn't make sense. Watson boxed Benn's ears off too. Before he walked straight onto the uppercut from Eubank, he was kicking his arse from pillar to post, Chris was pretty much finished. Perhaps I'm being kind to Watson, but the fact he walked forward with his arms down, does suggest he thought the ref had waved it off.

Eubank, as much as I admire him, had some questionable wins, and some terrible performances against sub-par opposition. On his night he was capable of great bravery and guts, and was a compelling fighter, but he can be a little overrated as a fighter.

I will admit that I havent read the full thread here so dont know if I have doubled on anyones comments.
The two results I would reverse both come in reasonably recent times and both because I followed the figthters from early(ish) in their careers:

Naz v Barrera - I was still quite young and devastated when naz lost, I knew it was possible but would have loved to have seen him win that. Hate listening to people saying now '.......and then barrera taught him a lesson' etc

Hatton v Senchenko (was that even his name ) - Would loved to have seen Hatton get a good send off on a high, chances are that if he won he would have thrown himself into the deep end and got pasted by someone else but if he won that night and ended it there it would have been good. Was sickening watching him break down in the post fight interview.

They two fights wouldnt have changed the history of boxing but they would have gave me an extra couple of happy evenings!

That one for me too. Justice should've been served that night. Castillo deserved that win. I would've also liked to have seen Tony Weeks stop the fight with Corrales after the 2nd knockdown. I know it would've made the fight less legendary, but as a big JLC fan that's what I'd want to see.

I also would've been jumping for joy if Maidana would've got the nod in the first Floyd fight.

Valuev vs Klitschko was never going to happen. I don't think the Haye win was what stopped that one

Never thought that we'd not see Barry back at The King's Hall. Or that he'd never fight for a world title again.

Dlh vs trinidad/mosley pacman vs bradley 1 and dlh vs felix sturm. Also lewis vs mercer,he never won that fight and holyfield vs lewis 1 lewis well beat holyfield. If pacman had beat bradley would he of got beat by marquez and would floyd of fought him if he never got beat by these two men? Trinidad didnt win that fight neither did mosley but de la hoya didnt beat sturm in a million years

Yeah... I'm right there with you on that one. I think that Barry still had a lot to offer the Featherweight division of that time. Azumah Nelson was the WBC Champ and I would've loved to have seen that unification (particularly if Barry could replicate the same performance that he did against Pedroza).

It would've (and could've) been something a little bit special.

I would probably reverse Eubank vs Close for 2 reasons - first off, Ray is my father's cousin and I've met him a few times, a very nice man to talk to and speaks well of all of his opponents, even thought he doesn't give interviews - he let me torture him for about an hour about boxing.


And had Ray have been the WBO World Champ (with Don King's backing) Ray would have happily went to America and made a fair few quid fighting Michael Nunn, Roy Jones Jr or Frankie Liles.

I also think - coming from a second perspective - that Eubank may well have decided to go to America had he lost his 0 in his loss column. I am currently reading a book called "The Hate Game" about the Eubank-Benn rivalry and Eubank's trainer has said that Chris had a lot of conditions for Barry Hearn before agreeing to any fight.

Maybe a 1 on his record might have loosened him up and prevented him from fighting a lot of B class opposition.

That's what a could change, imagine we say Mayweather in the ring with a prime shane mosley, a prime pacman, prime kostya tszyu, fighters like paul willaims and Antonio margarito, just makes me wonder how many losses he would have had

Talk was a fight with Mayweather if he won the Barrera fight. Mayweather discusses the fight in his Corrales post fight interview.

As for the topic, Moore losing to Rhodes. Would've loved to see Jamie get a world title shot. Murray against Martinez, thought Martin deserved the win there.

It's not a result reversal per se but I'd have loved there to have been a result in the Benn v Eubank II fight so we may have been able to see one of them fight James Toney.
