Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
Re: Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
As great a fight as Benn v McClellan was, Benn was a trifle lucky. Roy Jones Jr just totally outclassed a guy with more skills than McClellan.

Don't think there's win to top Sugar Ray Robinson's one punch knockout of iron jawed Gene Fullmer in the 5th round of there 1957 bout.

That victory of The Hands of Stone over The Blade cemented it for me to rank this great boxer top 5 ATG ever. It was an incredible win.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Duran/Barkley for me.
Roberto Duran is the best fighter that I have seen in my lifetime.
Re: Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
Rubin Carter's one round blowout of Emile Griffith in 1963 is near the top.
Re: Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
Barkley vs Hearns Barkley was getting pounded then produced that KO blow a great come from behind victory. Then beat Hearns again, to show it was no fluke (not like some I could mention)
Re: Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
Can't say I know alot about the fight other than the little bit I've read here, but in 1918 Harry Greb weighing 150 took a 10 rd decision from future Hall of Famer Billy Miske who weighed 174 and who already had an impressive record including a draw with Jack Dempsey.

Wouldn't you consider that a Light Heavy fight? If not, and I can understand using the fighters weight, Fitzsimmons over Corbett might push Roy at 168.Seamus wrote:Can't say I know alot about the fight other than the little bit I've read here, but in 1918 Harry Greb weighing 150 took a 10 rd decision from future Hall of Famer Billy Miske who weighed 174 and who already had an impressive record including a draw with Jack Dempsey.

Good catch on Fitzsimmons (167) K0 14 Corbett (184). Might be the winner for me at least.

I think he winner hear is
Thomas Hearns TK0 2 Roberto Duran (1984)

Hearns/Duran, Benitez/Duran,
Re: Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
I'd also throw in
Mike McCallum TK0 2 Julian Jackson (1986)
Jackson was 29-0 and wouldn't lose again tell he faced McClellan in 93.

Going by the fighters' weight, I would pick Robinson over LaMotta in their 4th fight (1945)
Otherwise, the Hearns beheading of Duran.

Barkley doesn't get enough credit for his wins at all.
He's the only guy who who really ever 'owned' Tommy Hearns, although Marvellous Marvin Hagler might disagree with me.
He took everything Hearns could offer & flattened him, then in the rematch, he outboxed the Hitman & no-one ever outboxed a living Hearns.
OK, Tommy was probably past his best, but as he proved against Virgil Hill the year before, he could still put on a masterclass when necessary.

Welterweight
This may shock some people, but I might go with
Jimmy McLarnin TK0 1 Young Corbett III (1933)
Why ? Corbett was the world champion with a record of 101-8-22, and had been stopped twice, in his 3rd and 4th bouts when he was just 14 yrs old, so after that he was on a 127 bout streak without being KO'd. After getting annihilated by McLarnin he was good enough to post wins over Mickey Walker, Gus Lesnevich, Billy Conn, and Fred Apostoli and fight for the Middleweight title.

Re: Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
Leonard's TKO 8 over Duran trumps Duran's decison over Leonard. Not exactly rocket science here.
Agree with Seamus, though, a first round stoppage against Young Corbett would be hard to beat.
Leonard-Hearns has already been mentioned, here are some others worth mentioning:
Hearns KO 2 over Cuevas
Zivic TKO 12 over Armstrong
Curry KO 2 over McCrory

Re: Let's Hear Your Nominations For Greatest Wins Ever
Sugar Ray Robinson's 10 rd UD over Jake LaMotta in 1943 in Detroit deserves a mention. Robinson was 145 and LaMotta was 160 3/4 . Quite a performance taking a clear decision from a guy has rugged as LaMotta who enjoyed a 15 lb weight advantage.

I might have to think about this one a bit. Some nominations off hand
Vince Phillips TKO 10 Kosta Tszyu (1997)
Julio Cesar Chavez W12 Hector Camacho (1992)
Aaron Pryor KO 4 Antonio Cervantes (1980) Cervantes was 35, but didn't look to be slowing down.
Wilfred Benitez WSD 15 Antonio Cervantes (1976) Despite one judge having it for Cervantes, I thought Benitez was the very clear winner.
Tony Canzoneri W10 Jimmy McLarnin (1936) Dominate performance from Canzoneri to beat McLarnin who came in at 143.
