Ward or GGG?
All of the talk around GGG centers around his level of opposition. And let's be honest. It's a worthy topic. His best win is probably...Gabe Rosado or Curtis Stevens? Question those opponents...an you're a hater? How can you be a hater if you call a guy a top 3 p4p fighter? From my end I just want to see GGG fight somebody, anybody, to where I don't 1000% know the result before the fight begins. Some drama; if you will.
You can't hate on Ward's career opponents - yet people still attempt to downplay them. Because of feelings that go beyond a boxing ring. Personal feelings. But why? Ward is about as likeable an athlete as there is outside the ring. Doesn't drink. Doesn't smoke. Goes to church every week. Gives to charities. An an all around good dude. Yet people resent his success. For their own personal reasons mainly due to a disdain for America. Which speaks to them as individuals. This isn't about war. Or politics. Yet people make it so.
Not sure the fact he's religious is meant to make me warm to him, but I take your point.
To be fair, Ward's fights are pretty boring, which doesn't help.
GGG minces his opponents, and whilst they are pretty poor calibre so far, they aren't giving him any trouble at all.
I like both fighters, though I definitely prefer watching GGG.

Oh, you mean how Pirog and Geale and Lemuix were great fighters until GGG beat them, bums afterwards, but Taylor and Froch and Kessler were p4p champions after Ward beat them!?
GGG fought Pirog? Because that would've been a good win. Had they actually fought.
Lemiuex lost to Alcine and Rubio before GGG even got a hold a hold of him. Those guys stink.
Daniel Geale is trash, was trash, and will always be trash.
Jermain Taylor beat Hopkins twice. Maybe you heard of him? Mikkel Kessler's only other loss was Joe Calzaghe and Froch. Carl Froch has only ever lost to Andre Ward, and once to Kessler which he avenged.

Ggg didn't beat Pirog
Common knowledge that Geale wasn't very good and I guess u forgot Lemeiux's other losses??? Cuz I keep checking I don't see a loss on Froch or Kessler resume that wasnt against a top dog. Remember when Rubio ko'd Lemeuix??? Yea that's a great PPV win!!!

Anyone with a brain can see GGG has weak opposition. However, the manner in which he deals with them, definitely suggests he's absolutely top drawer.

No one is saying he isn't top shelf. He is. Wanting to see him get challenged is my only critique. Because he can't get challenged at 160. The fights are not remotely interesting. The dude routinely spars with light heavyweights. Going up to super middle isn't going to compromise him. He's 34. If he's gonna do it the time is now. Or within a year. Eventually it will be too late.

I enjoy watching him dismantling people, but I agree, it's not particularly edifying.
Trouble is, I don't think he's really built right for moving up, I think at 168 he'd be conceding too many advantages, he's on the small side at 160, so he probably hasn't got a lot of choice. He could probably beat Canelo at 155, but I can see why they don't want to concede to him. it's the middleweight title, why the hell should he?! If it wasn't a 160 title fight, then sure, but it's stupid otherwise.

Being put in your place must be humbling. I can't relate. Understand that when you address me - I actually have a clue what I'm talking about.

Oh, and my mistake, I meant Proksa, not Pirog. For this imbecile, diddy, to call the likes of Danial Gesle and David Lemuix trash, post fight, anonymously from behind his keyboard is rather big of him. I guess he has never stepped into a ring for a real fight, he would have not a clue on how the industry works and his fights are really made. What a fucken arseclown.

Good post. Actual discussion. Light heavyweights who have sparred with GGG say he hits as hard if not harder than other light heavyweights. Hearing that is enough for me to believe he should be fighting in the super middleweight division. If he wants to see someone who can actually punch back a little bit.

Hitting hard is one thing - and sparring is sparring, I always take sparring stories with a major pinch of salt.
He would be conceding height, reach, and considerable amounts of weight. Some 168 lbers would be coming in well over 180 and I can't see him packing on much, he looks to me like someone who walks around near his weight limit, though of course, I cannot be sure.

Yes because this board shall only be occupied by those who are professional fighters.
And if you have actually been following my posts for years you would see I called guys like Geale trash well before GGG faced them. I don't wait til fights are over to offer opinions. I'm not one of those armchair jagoffs. And when I say trash it is a metaphor for "not top shelf". Not in a literal sense. We are comparing RESUMES here. Not human beings. Compared to the guys at the top of Ward's resume - the guys at the top of GGG's are garbage. Why do people take this sh*t so literally?

Hagler wasn't moving up. He was just waiting for top welters like Duran, Hearns and SRL to move up and fight him.
Hopkins was fighting the same level of opposition as Golovkin for many years until he finally got Tito, DLH and Taylor.
Golovkin may have quite a few years of prime left, and he can certainly move up in a year or two.

Lots of fighters spar with larger opponents Diddy, this is nothing particular to GGG. It doesn't mean much in terms of actually fighting bigger men.

I want to see GGG fight Andre Ward. That is really all I care about. Is that too much to ask? Apparently it is. Even tho that's the only way to settle this crap. But this is what boxing is. It's not a sport anymore. It's not about us, the fans. Hasnt been for a long time.

If Ward can come down to 168, then he can have his ass handed to him in a year or two.

Trouble is you want GGG to move up and give away any advantages he has fighting at 160. But it would be to much for you to suggest that Ward move down to 160. If you did that you would be ridiculed as a Ward hater. In other words get used to it. GGG is staying at 160.

Ward will probably move down to 168 (or retire) if he ever dares to get into the ring with Kova. Golovkin can complete the schooling at 168.

Isn't that was ggg is doing??? Have people move up or down. Ward 164, Maywearher to go up even tho he done moved up 5 or 6 divisions already. I don't want ggg to move up so he loses his advantage, I just want to see him in with another elite. Ward, kova and ggg are top 3. I'm not asking anything crazy by saying I wanna see ward vs ggg.

That is a bunch of bullsh!t. Golovkin never offered Ward to fight at 164. Mayweather had titles at 154, so he wouldn't have to move anywhere.
Fury and Wlad are good too. Do you want Ward or Kovalev to fight one of them ?

Moving up 8lbs and fighting guys 70 plus lbs heavier than you is a little different. Floyd moved from 126 to 154. RJJ went from 160 to heavy along with Toney. ODLH 126 to 160. Pacman 112 to 154. Marquez 126 to 147. These are some of the greats as of late that went looking for other great fighters.

Floyd at 147 is roughly as big for the division as GGG is at 160.

WTF does this have to do with GGG? If anything GGG is comparable to Kovalev in this situation. A dominant champ who just wants to defend his titles in his own weight class against the best opponents available. Canelo is the one who should learn from Ward's example.
