After reading all of it:
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-sport ... SKCN0WN1FS
"It was also used extensively for three decades to toughen up Soviet troops in action at high altitude."
I changed my mind completely back again, Wilder and his team are probably looking for just another excuse to avoid the fight, with a few nanograms from back in the days still in his body (what's still allowed according to the dopingtests) from a substitude that allways used to be allowed and hasn't been proved to improve any of your skills shouldn't make the difference between a win or a lose between these two.
Still funny I fell for it as well, I really thought for a day that Povetkin was a cheater.

Never much rated Povetkin couple of years back. I wasn't convinced he beat Huck and couldn't imagine him as a force in the HW div.
But he vastly improved.
Turns out like Sharapova he's been on prescription drugs that are meant for patients with a heart condition... to improve his cardio, stamina and conditioning.
F him.

...I think we are confusing moral and legal issues here...what counts is if he's in fact been using the substance since the first of Jan 2016...the ball is in his court..and I need more than just an explanation coming from his promoter...

As per Dan Rafael of ESPN, Povetkin had previously tested negative for this substance. So the idea that he hadn't used it since last year is questionable. The speculation is that he either got caught trying to dose in between tests or he was engaged in a practice called microdosing, whereby you take trace amounts of substances in levels that will not fail a drug test.
Wilders team has not commented publicly yet. The press release was issued by VADA. The WBC will make a ruling about the status of the fight. It's up to the WBC as of right now.

Wilder's team is about to be robbed by not getting paid the 4.5M$ becouse of that stupid bum Povetkin(his team actually).
Hope they'll at least receive the 750K that Riabinsky put as a deposit at WBC.
Wilder's team could arrange fight at April and earn at least 1M, and not waste money on training camp in EU.

So wanted this fight to happen. It was on my birthday too...like a gift from the boxing gods...a genuine 50-50 for me. And we get so few of those these days.

It doesn't really matter, its an advantage, be it more power, stamina, or whatever. I heard it increases O² flow in the muscles, this means, you last longer AND you gain more muscles, getting stronger. Its no wonder Povetkin looks like a bull with 37, when he's been a chubby guy in his "prime". I believe every boxer uses legal 'unfair' advantages.

Now I'm thinking about it, has there ever been caught any Dutch person in the past 5 Olympics? They performed remarkebly well, for such a small country and barely any of the immigrants fighting for the Dutch.
Even though i like the idea of the Olympics & am one of the few guys that watch it aswell... i only know of Dafne Schippers, a dutch runner, world champ of 2015. Busted for PEDs. About hockey, russians & dutch weren't even top. #1 been Canada, #2 the USA, #3 Switzerland... Russia was 5th & the Dutch were 19th.

There were a lot of scandals and bans in sports (especially Russian) involving meldonium. Later allowable limits were set for leftover amounts from when it was allowed. These limits decrease the farther from the 1 Jan 2016 it gets. The athletes that tested positive, but below these limits were already fully discharged. So should be Povetkin, his level is far below the limit set for the period of testing. Actually this should never even be an issue.
Meldonium is not even that much performance-enhancing, there are other similar drugs that can be of some help with cardio. The ban of meldonium and not the similar substances used in the US and Europe might seem anti-russian, since this kind of drug was most widely used in Russia. The whole policy of including substances to banned PED list looks suspicious since many regular substances may be deemed performanse enhensing, that are widely used by the majority of athletes.
On the other note, IMO Povetkin might have used heavier shit to improve his physique. Same goes for Wilder and too many of other pro athletes. Anyways, the fight should take place.

LOL---are you that naive? Have you been on internet boxing forums before? You should know that people say stupid shitt like that all the time.
Anyway, still no word on whether this is going ahead? Of course I understand why it would be called off, but I doubt AP just started taking these drugs for the first time and the Povetkin who Deontay prepared for, the one he was a slight betting favorite over, is probably the Povetkin he'd be getting. Aside from the big purse, if Deontay wins he'll probably get extra credit, while a loss wouldn't be as damaging to his reputation now that Povetkin has been caught using PEDs; if Wilder's team gets to choose whether the fight happens I think they should go forward with it.

Last thing Wilder's team want is this fight cancelation. No another fight with such a purse on the horizon, they wasted half a year and money on training camp in Europe.

Yes it is. Russia is the only country in history that runs state doping programs. Perhaps that is whats been targeted.
