I wouldn't say he was world class at light heavy for certain. Stevenson hammered him, Kovalev would destroy him in a round or two and the likes of Fonfara would probably beat him, probably Pascal also.

Cruiserweight is a less competitive and slightly easier division .................. IMO of course.

Nah. Makubu showed potential in footage but he was never that hard to hit and I suspect Bellew really doesn't have as much POWAH as folk give him credit for.

I don't expect Makubu to come back and do anything to suggest he is a top contender in this division, maybe fringe. I think he will get stopped by someone as good or slightly worse than Bellew in the next few fights if he gets used by other promoters. But Bellew will have been too, and it will all have the effect of discrediting this supposed 'world level' matchup.

On the eye test Bellew has proved enough to show he isn't any more than a mid-lower top ten guy at best.

Did Bellew ever look good against bums? He always looked the same from my memories. Limited.

How about 2 of his 4 fights since cleverly are ranked at 98 and 163 in the world on box rec. Masternak isn't ranked top 20. The 2 guys he faced before cleverly are both ranked top 300 in the world.

That's 4 of 7 fights of guys who are ranked outside the top 90, cleverly who isn't ranked as cruiser and only 1 top 20 Boxrec fighter.

Bellew has been fed chumps since Stevenson KO'd his ass. I think he is still suffering if he is serious about moving up to heavy to fight haye.
