Super great fight. Frampton may narrowly have won more rounds, but he was also looking a bit like the more tired, hurt fighter at the end. Frampton has demonstrated great ability to overcome a reach disadvantage by shooting in and firing overhand punches. Frampton's best weapon was often a short uppercut.

Official scorecards: 114-114, 116-112, 117-111 (wtf?). MD Carl Frampton

I had it a draw. At least one judge watched the same fight.

Had it 115-113, with frampton doing just enough to win 2-3 very close rounds

But man 117?? I had 4 rounds that LSC won easily on my card. How this judge saw Santa Cruz only winning 3 rounds is a little peculiar

6-5, 1 draw, give it to Carl. But i wouldn't have bewn surprised if it scored a draw.

Santa Cruz had absurd energy in the post-fight interview. Really positive energy, and looked like he had enough energy to go 15 or 20 more rounds.

Great match up incredible fight world class all round.
Frampton just hit the big time, Cruz was game as anything and right up for it ... hard pushed to level any kind of criticism toward that fight or either of the incredible boxers.
It was close on the numbers but Frampton's prior distance survey, accuracy, punch arsenal, defence and just pure boxing smarts won it for him by a close margin.

7-5 Frampton

Well deserved win in a fight I thought he'd lose

Yep. Frampton may have won very narrowly, but a draw would be a good outcome too. The judge who gave 117 to Frampton needs to be investigated.

Gripping fight. Couldnt take your eyes off it. I thought Cruz would win, Frampton put in the performance of his life.

117-111 is a criminally wide score. Surely judges should have some consistency in the way they score a fight. I bet if 100 boxrec posters had scored the fight inpartially and independently none wouldve had it that wide. I just dont know how these odd scorecards occur so often from "top level" "proffesional" judges.

That's the way I saw it too.

I saw it anywhere between 8-4 Frampton to 6-6 ... but I think Frampton won.

BUT ...
This fight shows why both guys blatantly ducked Rigondeaux. He would've blanked both.

Only guess would be the judge who saw it 117 was shading some very close rounds to Frampton rather than scoring them even. Seen it before where a close fight ends up wide on score cards because the judge is shading most close rounds to one man.

When I heard those two judge's card's read out [116/112 or 8/4 in round's and 117/111 or 9/3 in round's] I was thinking don't ruin a decent fight by giving Santa Cruze such a wide win on two of the score card's it was much closer then that so when Frampton was read out as the winner I was to say the least shocked if not stunned Frampton did not throw enough punche's through out the fight to win it in my unbias opinion especially by those margin's I thought the fight was close a lot of the round's were close especially after the 5th round because for the 1st 5 round's I think Frampton was well on top I think his punch volume wasn't as great after about 5 round's he seemed to start to admire some of his work the judge that had it 114/114 was the only judge out of the 3 that did not let the Irish fan's dilute what they were seeing those 2 judge's must have given Frampton every close round and like I said I thought ther was some very close round's Santa Cruze will surely need a Knockout if they fight a rematch in Ireland :bag:

I had 115 113 Framtpon, but as the scores were getting read out I just couldnt see him getting those scores in the USA. A very parochial crowd though and the right guy got the victory. Love to see a rematch or a match up with Selby.

Agree mate. I had it 114-114.

Wrote about why the rematch must happen here:

A point either way would've been fine but those two judges had a bad night IMO. What a bloody fight though. Genuinely brilliant from start to finish.

Easily a FOTY contender.

I seem the only person to score it for LSC. I had it 115-113.

Over the moon Frampton got it though. Needs a rematch. Quality fight.

So, now we just completely ignore what's happening to Rigo?

If Canelo and Danny Jacobs moved up to 168 and fought ... whatever ...
Good fight, no one here really cares about ducking unless it's Floyd.

I can enjoy their fights, but I view every top fighter from 118 to 126 fraudulent because none of them will fight Rigo.

btw - British boxing fans sold out arenas to watch Audley Harrison ... after we knew he was a bum ... Selby VS Frampton will sell regardless. As far as I'm concerned, with guaranteed bank for every fight, your ducking is exponentially worse. Rico is willing to fight anywhere.

The funny thing is, let some other fighter gun for Rigo, and everyone here will be on his dick "He's a real fighter" and so on.

Rigo brings zero money to the table so there is no point bitching about people not fighting him. Pretty sure that's what saad meant
