Selimov looked class as usual. A.couple of decent fights tonight

Selimov is one of the best boxers of recent years not to win Olympic gold. Him vs Loma happening in the first round of the 2008 Olympics (incidentally, Selimov acted like a total prick after losing) was ridiculous and in my opinion showed how a seeding system could be useful.

What a waste of money half of these Olympic "hopefuls" are. Taxpayers money down the shitter with their performance centres and grant funding not just boxing but they are underperforming big time!

Not all , but some of the boxers have been beaten by guys you would expect them to lose to. There has been some very unkind draws meaning most of the Brits are fighting top guys in early round ! If you are world ranked 10 for example and fighting the world no 1 or 2 and lose I wouldn't necessarily call that underperforming.

Agreed. A number have gone out to boxers ranked above them. The draw plays a huge part.

Paddy Barnes looked shattered in his loss earlier in the week too. I had Ward nailed on for a medal before this tournament started.

Thought exactly the same looked worst than i've ever seen him,boxed terrible against an average opponent.

Seen so many people blame the referee and officials in general for Ireland doing badly...as opposed to blaming their fighters. Barnes said he was fighting at the wrong weight-HIS fault, Ward didn't turn up and hold for a full round AFTER having had a point deducted - his fault

Take no notice of Twitter nonsense - Barnes and Ward only have themselves to blame. Bitterly disappointing showings from both.

With their successes at previous high level tournament's you have to question their prep in the run up to this Olympics. Both looked far more tired then they ever should be for experienced high level tournament boxers

No, I mean they are not underperforming if they are losing to someone ranked better than them! :)

Compared to years gone by when we had just a couple of boxers making the olympics, the investment in amateur boxing has given results ie so many qualifiers ( just maybe not the medals this time ) !

First I have seen of McCormack, he looks sharp, I'm impressed

I know you can't moan about the draw but look at mcormack there.

What's the deal with the Kazakh amateur program anyway? Their boxers always look so well-schooled

Haven't seen as much of the boxing as I would have liked as my missus insists on watching the far more masuline sports like Gymnastics and Diving, but i got to see some of Buatsi and he looks like a cracking puncher who could turn pro tomorrow.

Fowler was mediocre as usual, it seems as soon as he fights someone he can't bully he runs out of ideas quickly.

Okolie and Kelly looked out of their depth, though given the standard of the opposition they can be forgiven.

Looking forward to seeing Joyce again but he will need a kind draw to get amoungst the medals.
