Lewison did have a 5 week camp didn't he? I can't honestly see him being that different with another week or couple of weeks as he wouldn't have lost that excess weight and or significantly increased his stamina which were the key issues I felt.

Thought whyte looked much improved. As I think nelson said in the commentary he could have made it easy for himself and boring for us for dancing around lewison and staying out of range, but he decided to get close to him for a lot of the fight and so took a fair few shots.

What was the stall about in the corner haha?

Think him v chisora next makes a lot of sense.

I'd rather he fought Price next but like someone else said Price is going the Shannon Briggs/ Paul Smith route by fighting security guards hoping to get a random payday.

The problem with Whyte is he doesn't seem have more gears to go through. He had Lewison backed up at the end of round 6 and I thought he should have finished him then.

I think Whyte looks really good.

Had great punch variety and looks to have a good chin.

The Chisora fight would be good. Crossroads for Whyte and a last hurrah for del.

Whyte would make Chisora look every bit of the game plodder he is .

When was Del's last good showing ? many many moons ago now .

I wonder how Del would look against area-level opponents like inexperienced Allen and morbidly obese, part-time Lewison.

Someone like Edmond Gerber is much better than anyone Whyte has beaten, and Chisora took him out pretty routinely in 5. I can't recall the last time someone got rated as highly as Whyte when they'd been a pro for over 5 years yet never beat anyone in the top 75. I see people lauding Whyte for beating Lewison, but don't I don't know what's so impressive about that; loads of other fighters would beat him up too.

I think it's also worth remembering Whyte is currently the same age as Chisora was when he fought Vitali, and has had more pro fights.

I like Whyte, but it'd be surprising if he ever achieves what Chisora has, I think that's worth remembering.

Chisora lost to Pulev but he still gave him plenty of problems, and landed some decent punches, Whyte is no Pulev.

Anyone else hear Adam Smith during Lewisons walk on,

" he's practically unbeaten barring 2 close points losses "

What fornicating planet are Sky on?.

My mates record is 1 w 2 l but the loses were points defeats and one of them was a close one, does that make him practically unbeaten ? You know, can he get the ring announcer to say that next time he's out?

Whyte has beaten lewison who is more talented than Chisora albeit that he is not in any kind of shape. You are right to point out that Chisora has achieved a lot and Whyte will do well to ape him but Whyte already looks a more complete fighter than Del boy and will beat him comfortably I am sure.

 Hatton's also practically unbeaten if you ignore his KO losses

Lewison is a strange one, you can tell he has some skills and was a decent amateur (with the win over Solis being the stand out) would have been interesting to see how far he could've gone had he given it 100% when he turned over rather than boxing on and off.

Given his inactivity, coming into the fight on 5 weeks notice and was in poor shape... he did well in going 10 rounds and proved he can take a whack.

IF he was in shape, I think Whyte would have had some proper problems on his hands.... so what does that tell you about Whyte?

I've warmed to Whyte, he's taking the game much more seriously now... grafting in training, eating correctly and getting in shape. But unfortunately I don't see him making any noise at world level.

As mentioned above, he can't seem to switch it up and go through the gears.

I'd like to see a little tournament across a few months with 8 heavyweights like Dave Allen, Lewison, Cornish, Sexton and a few of the undefeated guys at area level at the mo. 1st round an 8 rounder, semi finals and final 10 rounder with some kind of financial incentive in the final fight, maybe have the final on a PPV bill with 40k to the winner and 20k to the beaten finalist or something like that.

Impressed with Whytes perfirmance considering Lewisons amateur pedigree it's the first time in 90 odd fights that he's been down/stopped.

It'll be very interesting to see how other British Heavyweights would get on against Lewison ?

Ian Lewison v David Price would be very revealing at least we'd see if Price has improved under Coldwell and can now handle pressure and take a shot.

Think Whyte is a decent fella. More to come from him, he hits hard and is a test for anyone, would love to see him fight Joshua again if both keeps winning.

Yes this is what we need even if it takes a prizefighter format. There are so many promising domestic level heavies in the UK and they need to get in and fight each other instead of wasting their careers through inactivity or fighting journeymen.

Hearn needs to be bold and sort this out.

Where is the evidence of Lewison beating Solis? Which event and year? He's also claimed a win over Helenius, but there is no record of this in any of the major amateur boxing databases, nor are there any articles that reported these supposed wins at the time. The only result I can find of Lewison vs either of these guys is a 24-9 loss to Helenius in the 2002 Gee Bee tournament.

Lewison never won the ABA's or any serious international event either, which isnt consistent with him knocking out a world class amateur like Solis. It would be very odd if he really did score wins of such magnitude without any record of them existing.

I think Whyte is making decent progress after what I think many of us would agree was a very slow start to his career. He's starting to look fitter, he's improving technique wise, and being properly managed. He's tickled around with the domestic level for a few fights after surgery, won the Lonsdale belt, and now needs to set his sights to European level against the likes of Chisora.

I think his performance was good on Friday. He was keeping busy in the rounds, good punch variety, and it was only the resolve of Lewison that kept the fight going. I think Whyte beats Chisora in 12, but only because he's a busy fighter. He'll bust Del up, but I see him staying in there.
