Stadium and arena are not synonyms. The MGM Grand Garden Arena is not a stadium and has never been called one. Much like the Manchester Arena, Wembley Arena etc etc etc.

Well it's definitely Rover. He used to turn half decent threads into pages and pages of unreadable pointless arguments over stupid details.

Even I'm confused now, but as far as I'm concerned in the UK at least there is a distinction made between arena and stadium, hence wembley stadium (where they held Froch Groves 2) being distinct from the neighbouring wembley arena (where they held the Groves Froch 2 weigh in).

Arena's are smaller, hold less people and carry less prestige, hence the term "stadium fight" reserved for the biggest possible fights. The 02 is an arena. Wembley stadium is a stadium.
