Under boxing rules Malignaggi would not just beat McGregor. He would school him.

I like mcgregor, but malignaggi should still have enough to beat him at boxing

Suggesting that he'd debut as pretty much a top 15 boxer is fanboyism IMO. Again, even in his own domain he had serious problems with Nate Diaz's hands.

Yeah there probably is some fanboyism on my behalf admittedly. Don't get me wrong, I'm not deluded to the point where I think he has any kind of chance against Floyd or any of the top welterweights or light middleweights. It's more intrigue than anything in regards to matchups vs guys like Malignaggi, and Van Heerden and guys of that level.

A prime Malignaggi would box Conor's head off no doubt, it's just that the current version of Pauline looks to have deteriorated a lot from his prime. He didn't look that great against European/british level guys more recently. I say british there because some of the guys you have fighting for the EBU belt look worse than guys operating at british level at times.

I don't think that Conor is a masterful boxer but he does have a good counter left hand and decent timing and obviously big power in small mma gloves. How his power would be with 10 Oz gloves is a different matter though.

That's footage filmed by Van Heerden's team right? That's probably about as objective as the stuff Mcgregor's team put out. Tony Jeffries who was there and watched all the sparring to my knowledge- said that he was impressed with Mcgregors boxing.

It was put up in reply to McGregors lot putting out a heavily edited clip of them sparring. Basically saying here's a round of unedited footage, judge for yourself.

McGregor looks jank. Doesn't know what to do and Van Heerden is playing with him. The suggestion he is competitive with top class boxers ( even good/possibly decent boxers ) just seems crazy to me and as mentioned above, true 'fanboyism'

I hate to think how many hearts would be broken if someone like Skeete fought him. I keep mentioning Skeete and with good reason. He'd piss all over him. He's a domestic champion and he'd piss all over him.
It's best Conor never fights in the squared circle imo. It keeps the myth alive, well, until someone beats him again in the UFC.

Yeah but if he can get a $50 million payday or something fighting Floyd then he'd be stupid too turn it down. Even if he got a good hiding. Just like we were talking about in regards to Haye-Bellew. I know that's not the same in the sense that Bellew is a professional boxer- however, he probably has little chance against Haye either.

For instance if you look at this footage here- which was filmed by Tony Jeffries gym (and not Mcgregors team) going off the brand stamp in the corner- you can see that whilst he's still not having it all his own way- Mcgregor is having more success than he is in the other clip

What would Mayweather do to the McGregor in either clip though?

Would UFC let their fighter really fight a past prim boxer like Malignaggi? It's easy to explain losing a lob sided decision to Floyd. Not so easy explaining why you were taken apart by a semi-retired former title holder who lost almost all of his major fights?

Correct. Much of it is almost slow motion.

True. Mcgregor doesn't exactly look like he's going all out either though to be fair.

Got to agree with the comment that Skeete would outbox him, never mind the likes of Floyd.

Paulie clowns him in a boxing ring, you can't compare the two sports.

I think people are arguing about different things. I initially took the question to mean could Mcgregor beat Malignaggi if he decided to turn pro and trained full-time in boxing for a year or so. It seems others have taken the question to mean could Mcgregor beat Malignaggi in a boxing match right now, which is obviously a totally different scenario.
