I am with you at this point, Saad

love to see Wilder put the division to sleep at this point (still think he's one solid shot away from
The Hitman Shuffle though).
I guess I've gone the opposite direction. I was very excited when Wilder turned pro and had the added wish for success because his daughter had health struggles. I started to give up on him around the Damon McCreary fight and things really haven't improved. This is anything but a strong division and somehow Wilder has still managed to miss...well...everyone even though he's had near 40 fights. Being a Wilder fan is akin to being friends with a poor alcoholic: the
next time you loan him money he'll use it to get his life on track...the next time for sure.

All true but having him clean out the division would be priceless.

i feel tricked, that's all. very gifted athlete
wants top level attention without taking
top level risk. as i said initially, he doesn't
show the guts his overmatched opponents
are showing.
nevertheless i think he is a great boxer and
second best heavy right now.

no, you're not, you just enjoy the
status of the contrarian. i am pretty
sure your money would be on joshua,
if they fought right now.

I suppose it could be good for a laugh or two at his heaviest detractors. I'd gladly call him the best should he ever prove it. For now I'd settle for a fight against a B level Heavy before his tenth title defense and 40th fight.

But, isn't he preparing for his victory lap retirement tour now?

No clue what your point is. I'll be cheering for wilder Saturday night.

For the record: You can be a fan of a guy and still put your bet on the other guy if you think he's gonna win. I have regularly made picks that I'd be happy to be wrong about because I'd like to see the guy I'm picking against win.

i am not so terribly serious about this.
just do think that most reasonable
afficionados think AJ is the real deal.
but i do imagine that a clash of him
and wilder with both in their primes
could revive the division big time. it
is just a rare thing that two great, in
shape heavies go toe to toe and i do
not see that fight playing out very
tactically.
in case this is not obvious: i do like
wilder, i just do not like his match
making.

Wilder's not a great Heavyweight. I'm still not convinced he's at the level of a Lamon Brewster or someone like that.

Wilder needs his balls hardened. Maybe enroll in this kind of training:

that's the thing. his record doesn't
provide any indication how good he
really is.

His performances do though. He's not very good.

No sound evidence any of these guys are better than Brewster.

i am pretty torn apart on this. nobody
looks good against everybody. wilder
has great assets. i am not sure about
his balance and defensive skills, but
he does have tons of power.
to me there are similarities to the early
foreman in these respects - and no, i
do not imply deontay is as good as
george.

brewster koed three pretty solid opponents
at his peak. could be that he walks through
wilder like a hot knife does butter. i think he
would not do that against AJ, yet of course
one doesn't know.
