Bellew knocked him clean out the ring in his own backyard, it was a beautiful sight. Haye's pre fight antics came back to haunt. He writ him off, many on here did, Bellew won, simple. Respect to the current world champion, that was a joy to behold.

I can't believe the nonsense on this thread. Haye got hammered from the 6th round onwards and was left lying outside the ring ropes. Utterly demolished - wiped out.
He was brave and took his punishment.
He was obviously injured and his inexperienced corner man should have taken responsibility and pulled him out between the 6th and 7th. He didn't do that, so everything that happens afterwards is simply part of the fight. So , he got hammered.

OK, he deserves credit for not getting knocked out in the first couple rounds.
But then, even big Audley avoided getting knocked out for a couple rounds against a much better version of Haye but he got, little credit for it.

OK, he deserves credit for not getting knocked out in the first couple rounds.
But then, even big Audley avoided getting knocked out for a couple rounds against a much better version of Haye but he got, little credit for it.

Come on Audley froze that night and even Haye did very little so there were no punches to avoid in the first 2 rounds.

Credit to tony bellew on the victory. Also to haye for being gracious in defeat and not mentioning his injury.
Personally I hope Tony Bellew goes back down to cruiserweight and concentrates on unification. He's not a heavyweight and has nothing to prove there. He said he really believed he could beat haye and did so, showing he's a warrior which great mental strength. I would hate to see him take a step to far against the big guys.

Possibly he did have an injury before. But bellew had a job to do and he got it done. He beat what was in front of him. During the fight i was thinking "it's only a matter of time" before haye gets him. But Haye didn't, and that's the way of it.

What big shots? Barely anything was landed in the whole fight from either fighter. Now I'm hearing Bellew apparently broke his hand. Have landed about 3 grazing shots while Bellew was moving away; nothing flush.

It seems ok to call out a boxer for being chinny but when somebodies resolve is displayed at the highest level at it was last night by David Haye,rather than a round of applause, the target for negative comment becomes Tony Bellew for failing to finish!

Hammered bellew didn't even hurt Haye once.

These "events" do tend to bring the worst out in people!

Haye was swinging like a novice all night and made a right spectacle of himself

It's worth pointing out that Haye was knackered and at one point staggered drunkenly around the ring. He looked spent for several rounds. You can't blame the result purely on his injury. There was the matter of fitness. 36 and with a couple of can jobs in 6 years. He wasn't prepared for a Bellew that could withstand the first volleys of big punches and prolong the fight. A lot of you sound as if you're in denial.

When a heavyweight retreats to the ropes and leans back as far as he can with his hands up, as Ali did against Foreman , for example, it becomes very difficult for even the huge punchers to knock them out. Haye knew this, he kept his eyes on Bellew, and his counters ready just in case, but Tyson at his absolute peak couldn't have knocked Haye clean out.
So, please stop criticising Bellew for not being able to knock out a one legged fighter. When you have to lean over to land you just can't get a clean shot.
