I saw another interview on Sky with Bellew and Coldwell and Bellew is still talking that he won't fight again. Coldwell wants him to retire and Bellew said it would take something very big to tempt him back. No decision made yet though about his plans.

Think it's a bargaining strategy. Will probably fight once more imo.

He's not going to retire when he knows he will earn at least a couple of mil for his next fight, a couple of mil after tax for the Haye is a lot of money but when you look at it over the course of a lifetime it's not huge amounts, if he wants to retire he will need another fight.

If Bellew stops now, having never even defended his title, and after beating Haye on an injury, he'll go down more as an overachiever who perhaps made a lucky escape.

Albeit the guy who saw Haye's comeback was an absolute joke and who was willing to go out there and show everyone.

Rather see him defend his title - at the every least, against a good challenger - and go down as a guy who earned his title. However his novelty fight with Haye does change things somewhat.

But, I agree with you - needs to defend it against a top challenger. Although he wouldn't get great money for the Briedis/Huck fight - I certainly think it's a winnable fight for Tony.

Yeah if Huck and Breidis have a good fight I'd like to see Bellew vs the winner. I've enjoyed some of his fights over the years such as Cleverly I, Ovill McKenzie I, Brudov & Makabu and think he'd match up well with whoever emerges.

I don't think lifting weights made Haye worse. He seemed more confident at heavyweight until he faced Wlad who was just too big and too quick for him.

Bellew would be crazy to call it a day IMO but got to respect his decision either way. Maybe he's happy with his financial situation? He must absolutely not entertain an AJ fight though. Money is great but health far more important!!!

Just watched Bellew on John Bishops talk show and he's playing up this victory big time. Its good to see boxers getting attention on TV and Bellew does seem to know how to win over the audience but he's milking it big time.

Not a chance that he's walking away from boxing yet.

I think it was the fact Wlad was a lot quicker than he anticipated. Haye couldn't get past the jab without getting hit first.

Yeah, I reckon it's a doable fight, Wilder doesn't strike me as being hugely popular across the states, and for the right money he'd come I reckon, especially as it's a fight he'd expect to win.

In the very unlikely event Bellew wins, happy days, rematch Haye with a world title belt.

i just feel Haye's core strength is very low at heavyweight. So weak inside, the amount of times he was flung to the floor. If he didn't muscle up he could've stayed at cruiserweight, not as much money per fight but more control over his career, far less of the bad setbacks he's ended up with.

Even the most decisive victories he had were all about landing those flashing shots that slow heavyweights can't see coming. He could get away with it versus mid sized heavyweights, sometimes even look great but I don't regard Haye as a true heavyweight.

Some feel his injuries are down to steroids. Especially the Achilles' tendon injury (cross ref James Toney when working with Victor Conte preparing for the ill fated bout with Jamel McCline). I don't. I think it's the strain of hitting stronger, bigger men, of lunging in further versus rangier foes, of being hit and pushed around by bigger men - of trying way too hard to be what he isn't.

He's an articulate, intelligent and good looking chap. He certainly doesn't need to fight though I will be surprised if he doesn't try to angle for a shot at the heavyweight crown if securing futures is what it's all down to.

It would be brilliant if he could pull it off. Very tough ask though.

There is about as much chance of the attention seeking Bellew retiring as there is of Santa Claus landing in a spaceship from Mars.

Bellew reckons he is the best HW in the world outside the world champs

When basically we all know he won a novelty fight in bizarre fashion and ended what we already suspected was a joke comeback of Haye.

I wish Tony well whatever he decides to do - despite that gob - he's paid his dues and made the most of what he has got.

My strong suspicion is that he will come back to the well but it will be heavyweight from now on in.....and that maybe means a rematch with Haye or Hearn putting down the cash and getting Wilder over here for a stadium number at Goodison.

If Hughie does get one over Parker then a first defence against Tony is also a possibility for maybe the autumn...that would sell plenty as well.
