No one here watches Sergiy Derevyanchenko? This is Golovkin's biggest threat.

If you're talking about who can KO Golovkin? Lemieux could, but he'd need to be able to land. He was never given that opportunity, though, because of Golovkin's skill. Lee and Jacobs could KO Golovkin. All three dudes are probably the hardest hitters in the division, though.

Sorry Rocks I'm not going to argue swimming with you since I am pretty ignorant on the subect. In answer to the original poster ... "someone who is just marginally better than Danny Jacobs?"
GGG best MW in history? ... not even close. (or are we suggesting Jacobs is also among the elite?)

I imagine that a lot of greats looked poor in certain fights or lost to opponents who were nothing special.
I certainly wouldn't call GGG the best ever, but I think he would've made mincemeat out of old-timer favourites like the small, technically awful Ketchel, a fighter whom you mentioned earlier.

well Jack Johnson certainly did, but he was three modern weight divisions bigger than Ketchel, and he had to climb off the floor to do it. There again Johnson was fighting 100 years so I guess he was crap too. eh?
In answer to your premise, we will never know, but these men of long ago are legends of our sport and they will always have my respect and admiration whether I'm qualified to defend their honour with authority, or as it turns out, merely just doing so from the heart and the gut.

Sorry Crusader I neglected to address the first part of your post: Yes, fair comment I can't argue with that. I do still rate GGG pretty highly but he has much to do before I'd consider great outside the context of his era and his weight-class.

both ggg and jacobs resemble the old school fighters for some reason to me especially in style, but only bigger.
from middleweight and up it seems the physical difference between the generations is big. i remember lampley saying jermain taylor was the biggest middleweight he's ever seen before the hopkins fight, now damn near every middleweight is jermain taylors size.
even with the size disparity i wouldn't count out the greats against todays guys. they had other qualities many fighters today don't possess.

Hagler would cleanly out box ggg & walk through Jacobs. The only attribute either had on Marvin was one punch power. Past that it's all on his side.

Try Ali against Spinks and Tyson against Douglas - just to name two.

First of all, GGG is NOT "someone who is just marginally better than Danny Jacobs". He fought overly cautious, as he couldn't afford to lose and not get the unification fight vs BJS and/or the money fight against Canelo. Sanchez was telling him to not take risks. Besides, it could just be a case of a bad style match up.
Second of all, I didn't call him the best MW in history. Somebody from closer eras than Greb may be better. We will never know, so there isn't anybody who is "the best MW in history".

So you no longer support GGG just because of last night? Is that what you mean?
That would be extremely fickle of you, especially considering that you seem to rate Jacobs very highly.

Not like I use too he got beat Jacobs should be the Champion of the World Not GGG that's all mate I hope GGG ko's that Canelo guy though Jacobs would ruin Canelo career.

he should he negotiating the big payday not GGG.

Disagree about the verdict
For me the decision was spot on, and opinion seems fairly evenly split, which I dont believe is ususlly true of genuine robberies. I think you're crying robbery when there wasnt any, though I agree that Danny beats Canelo.
Maybe they can rematch at some point, but it seems like GGG will probably fight BJS to become undisputed champ (in the sense of holding the 4 major belts) in his next bout.

A robbery would mean 7 crystal clear rounds for Jacobs. Did he have 3? Not much between them in most of the rounds.

Well I can only go on what I saw and it seemed to me that Golovkin wasn't holding back in any way and had nothing left in reserve. I wouldn't argue the decision, but I can't see that the outcome would be very different if they fought again. A good and close fight between a very good contender and a fine champion who may be a little past his best, who was struggling with the speed and mobility of his opponent.
Secondly no you didn't, that was Caldo, but you said Greb wouldn't last two rounds against Golovkin, which I thought was very nearly as outrageous. None of us have seen Greb fight but some of his achievements were outstanding and I see no reason to denigrate his memory when he is in no position to set the record straight.
At the risk of being pedantic there
is a best MW in history, but as to who that was we can only speculate.

I've always believed that Pirog would have beat Golovkin had they fought. It's a shame that Pirog's boxing career was derailed due to health issues.

If they fight ( they wont) WARD will easily beat GGG. He is bigger, he has reach advantage, he is a far more gifted boxer. GGG has the punching power but WARD is used to fight powerfull boxers ( kovalev, Abraham). This is why they didnt fight before WARD went up yo 175. Too many dissadvanges for GGG
