Whilst I would never argue Smith deserves another title shot, or truly earned the ones he had it's the people giving him the shots that should be criticised not Smith for taking them. Why wouldn't he? It's what he turned professional for, and if I were sat there and someone offered me a short cut fight I'd rather take that than lose for less money on a smaller bill against a British title hopeful, we'd all do the same.

I wasn't there but he was booked for a sportsmans lunch, 12pm. The guy who booked him picked him up at 11 and he was legless. They got him back to the club, had an emergency meeting and told him he couldn't go on and wasn't getting paid. Anyway, Glenn wasn't happy so they threw him out. I think the fact that he's a commentator/pundit, so passes judgement on other fighters and they're credentials, rolled into the fact that I (and sounds like a lot of others) find him to be a twat, means he's going to get crap for having a title shot.

I think this is a big part of it, and I'd add his hubris alienates a lot of people (including me) unnecessarily. You've then got his shameful behaviour regarding his weight for the Ward fight (and the corresponding lack of contrition) and the fact he's rarely in an entertaining fight, and it's really hard to build a case for him being a fighter we should get behind.

I don't disagree. But he's said this fight has been months in the making. Why risk losing it with a fight that he'll likely lose. It all comes back those offering him these opportunities. If they weren't there he might take the fights you mention, but would you risk a world title pay against a younger hungry fighter that let's be honest he won't win against?

Definitely mate. It's mental when you look at they names! The top 8 there I'd put my weeks wages on beating Smith up. Blackledge, Smyle, Williams and Heffron would have a great chance as well! And were expected to believe this knob deserves multiple world title shots

Some astounding negativity on this thread, about a man who once took a few rounds off a disinterested, past his best, Arthur Abraham.
