I'd say he was a prospect. As an amateur he was Irish senior champ and fought internationally (including against AJ), and he also had some World Series of Boxing experience.

Clearly didn't look to be made for the top level though. Incidentally, Sokolowski is turning into quite the upsetter...

Cornish beat his easily on points in 6 rounder as well before his 2 good wins recently.

With 2 decent wins he won't be high on list of journeyman for some promotors again now.

Dubois set be back out on 20th May - more of the same? Or someone at least English level?

And his fight with Josh Sandland should be a good matchup.

Thinking of going to that, seeing what Sandland is all about. Certainly having a baptism of fire.

He's talented but has very limited amateur experience. Don't think he boxed as a senior. I'm happy for him to get to 10-0 before he even considers English level.

He's only 19.

Good point on Crolla but you'll find very few other examples. I think Crolla overachieved and got good matchmaking due to the fact that he can sell a ticket. Turner is small for the weight and looks easy to outbox. It's a very bad result indeed. Best of luck to him but I would put a large sum of money on him not achieving what Crolla has.

I've seen Sokolowski box in the flesh. He's extremely tough, comes to win but has been matched hard. He's not a big heavy either. He's not to be underestimated.

Agreed. I was ringside for Turner v Sokolowski last Saturday. Turner was not particularly impressive, but Sokolowski deserves a lot of credit - he came to win, showed a really good jab which stopped Turner getting close for most of the fight, moved his feet better than many heavies I've seen in the UK, and battled through a tough patch in round 5 where he got visibly hurt with body shots. Showed guts and skills. Certainly not your typical 3-9 fighter.
