This fight will be more about the ref than the judges imo.

Ward getting that KO this time?lillywhite14 wrote:You are correctIKSRTFO wrote:I always hated that excuse. He should've stopped him the first time, Mr. knockout king Kovalev who relied on the judges. It's complete bollocks. If Kovalev could have stopped him the first time he would of, 100%. His fanboys make out Kov decided not to knock him out because he thought he'd done enough!? Behave!
...of course, if he could of he would of...the contention being though that Kovalev probably realised that nicking the rounds is not good enough and he should go for a kill..lillywhite14 wrote:You are correctIKSRTFO wrote:I always hated that excuse. That is exactly what confuses the minority who think that Ward won the first fight. They ASSUME that Ward is "smarter"/"master technician"/etc. while he isn't compared to Kovalev.darkstar81 wrote:Ward is simply smarter.
Ward is smarter than Kovalev.boxing_rocks wrote:That is exactly what confuses the minority who think that Ward won the first fight. They ASSUME that Ward is "smarter"/"master technician"/etc. while he isn't compared to Kovalev.darkstar81 wrote:Ward is simply smarter.

It's not that hard to understand.boxing_rocks wrote:#DUMMYGRAPHICdarkstar81 wrote:Ward is smarter than Kovalev.boxing_rocks wrote:

Did you mean keeping his head below the waist ?Riddick Blowe wrote:Kovalev is the better boxer, and it's not particularly close. More variety, more adaptability, quicker. Just better in every aspect except 'traditional' defensive skills, a deficit which hardly matters in this particular matchup when he's getting hit so little.
So? The stronger man doesn't get extra points unless he visibly hurts his opponent.Evander wrote:Size ... Ward will still have a problem.
When the big punches landed it was Kovalev who did the backing up it was clear he was stronger.
Thats what Ward repeats every morning whilst he's jerking off to a pic of himself.boxing_rocks wrote:Repeat "Ward is smarter" 100 times and it seems to become true :)
I do, I feel he's an honest, straight to the point. Obviously without knowing him. Saying he was knackered doesnt mean he lost all rounds past 5 though, just that he wasn't performing at his best, He also apologised for his performance. It's a good mentality to have, he wants to do better.CaptainSpacerod wrote:Does anyone believe Kovalev's assertion that he overtrained for the 1st fight and was knackered from round 5 on ?
He comes across as a stand up guy so I believe he believes it but I wonder if all the grappling tired him out more than he realizes and it was that rather than overtraining which sapped his energylazboy wrote:I do, I feel he's an honest, straight to the point. I'm sure that had a big part too and I hope he's training for that. We pretty much know whats Wards going to do again and it is that (grappling) if traditional boxing isn't working. Even though I felt Kovalev one, it was close and I'd like to see Kovalev adapt to the grappling somehow, beat Ward at his game. How do you beat a spoiler? The only think i could suggest would be to lighten up on the punches and punch in volume, like what Calzaghe did to Hopkins, thats the only example I can think of off the top of my head.CaptainSpacerod wrote:He comes across as a stand up guy so I believe he believes it but I wonder if all the grappling tired him out more than he realizes and it was that rather than overtraining which sapped his energylazboy wrote:I do, I feel he's an honest, straight to the point.
