Of course, how could he beat Mayweather? Of course, Castillo did, but who is Loma compared to Castillo?
Arguement doesn't wash

Salido is not a top level fighter but beat loma.

Arguement doesn't wash

Salido is not a top level fighter but beat loma.
- That was Loma's second pro fight
- Salido came overweight
- Salido was allowed to foul non-stop
- Salido didn't really win

Salido has a W over Loma. That's a fact

Castillo doesn't over Mayweather. That's another

You can't use inexperience in one breath then say how far ahead he is time for time in another. Can't have your cake and eat it!

..so he lost in his second professional fight, bfd..how many (potential) ATGs do we know that have zero losses on their resumes?..not many I would guess..some of them that I know never left their backyards getting occasional home time decisions...considering all odds, Loma had a great start..

Lomas had an unbelievable start, I'm a fan. Don't confuse me being realistic for the state of play NOW vs Pacquaio and mayweather that I don't rate loma. He's quality.

I bring up salido in response to someone using Castillo as a reason loma is better. There's no real meaning there

Lomachenko has surpassed Floyd by leaps and bounds when Floyd was at the same stage of his pro career. So far, Loma has a heck of a head start on Floyd.
Floyd beat an all-time great super featherweight in Genaro Hernandez at the Age of 21 in his first championship fight.
Loma had a much longer amateur career than Mayweather , he was 25 in his first professional fight.

Mayweather was already a two-weight class world champion by the Age of 25.
Mayweather fought against Diego Corrales in his 6th title defense , who was a beast in the division and one of the strongest punchers ever
at super-featherweight and Floyd annihilated him.

Mayweather is arguably the best super featherweight fighter of all time.
Lomachenko has surpassed him in nothing , not yet .
He could surpass him , he has the talent to do it , but he has only 9 fights.
I think it is a little bit far fetched to say , he is better than Floyd Mayweather.

Doing it earlier doesn't make you better

We get it loma is special he won the title second fight!
It alludes to it though. Arum was confident enough in Lomachecnko to try and get him a title shot for his pro debut. Not sure if Arum promoted Floyd from the get go, but whoever his promoter was, he didn't have that type of confidence.

I'm well aware of Floyd's history. We are talking pro rankings here, not age. When you compare their first 8 fights, it's really no comparison. And I'm confident that by the time Loma has reached his 30th fight, he will have accomplished more than Floyd did at 30 fights.... and so on and so forth. Now, let me put my crystal ball away.

Win

like he did against castillo

come on, you can do better...what does prime floyd do better than prime loma? I would love to hear an answer

Floyd has better reflexes , he has maybe the best reflexes , i have ever seen from a boxer.

Floyd has slightly better accuracy , although both of them are very precise fighters.

Floyd has the better defensive skills and has more power than Loma , especially in the super-featherweight division.

Floyd Mayweather has the best straight right hand counterpunch ever , unbelievably sharp.

Floyd Mayweather also is a great inside fighter , which you can see in the fight against Miguel Cotto.

His ring iq is also better.

Could be true , but Loma is already 29 and only had 9 fights.

If he would fight at the same rate as he does now, with 3 fights per year , he would be 36 years old with 30 fights , we don't know , if he is still in his prime at the time.

Maybe he starts declining with 33 or 34 like the most fighters do , i don't think that , but the possibility is given.

I think he has the ability to be one of the very best. Whether he will get the fights is a different matter.

I'd like to see him fight Davis next.

what many people forget. salido came fightnight as a welterweight. he was much bigger than lomachenko. weight aside, i scored it for loma.

but every boxer has his favourite weight, at super featherweight loma looks much more energetic, stronger, even faster, even so he put extra muscles on.

but no shame on having close fights or losses against c level opponent. hopkins lost his first bout against d level :OhYes: pacquiao lost to rustico. floyd had a tough night against a guy with 17 losses  . so even p4p top 50 of all time can have huge problems against a mediocre boxers, it happens.

but i dont talk about dihydrated version of lomachenko who had a tough night against salido,

i talk about the version of lomachenko i am seeing RIGHT NOW, prime vasyl lomachenko. that version has better reflexes than henry armstrong, has better footwork than willie pepp, has more punch variation than roberto duran and is quicker than benny leonard! all i am saying is, he can hang with the best of the best boxing has ever had -

you say that Salido is much bigger than Lomachenko

and you say Lomachenko's dehydration should mean you don't talk about his tough night against Salido

but if Salido is much bigger, he would have been much more dehydrated than Lolachenko, this welterwight draining down to 126lbs.

so, in short, your excuses are self-contradictory.

Rankings shift with fights, and Loma is clearly ahead of Salido now. That he fought very closely with him after one pro fight is highly impressive, and many top fighters struggled with opponents much worse than Salido early in their careers,

If the loss is still a big deal, where does Loma KTFO victim Roman Martinez rank compared to Salido? Rocky dropped him a couple times and didnt lose to him in 2 fights....

Semantics here, he's really good and deserves to be fighting the best around his weights, but he is not the best around his weight etc
