I thought today's editorial in BN was well written - there is too much focus on the "Q word".
I would re-phrase the debate. Yes, Kell did "Quit". I quit my last job, to take one that paid a lot more. In the gym, I see guys trying to do 10 reps of a bench press, and "Quit" after 7. So what?
It was a really good fight and Brook had reached a stage where he was done. I don't think he has anything to be ashamed of, I certainly didn't feel in any way short changed as a consumer.

Its just a matter of levels , For most of his fights Brook was a level above , and had a relativly easy carreer , For the Porter fight he was on an equal level and brought home the bacon ,, for the GGG fight he was below that level and got stopped ,, For the Spence fight once again he was at a lower level and suffered an injury , maybee he could of gone on maybee not , we'll never know ,, but what we do know is he got an injury and was'nt willing to risk ,any more punishment , .
or did'nt want to take any more punishment , because he knew he was beat
He's found his level and its not has good has people thought or hoped , so now they call him a coward , a quitter , more than anything it just shows how fickle boxing fans are , he was an unbeatable hero to some a few weeks ago , now he's the cowardly lion .
Its levels and if they fought again Spence would win even quicker , He's got confidence , Brook has'nt

This thread is full of nonsense the man will be capable of boxing again, had he chose to go out on his shield like maximus decimus meridius (bar the poison) He could have been finished forever. I enjoyed the fight and think Brook is being unfairly treated for doing what we boxing fans want and that is fighting the best of the best.
Maybe Khans teeny testicles might make him brave enough now to try and jab Brook to a victory. Until his little brain fails him 4 rounds in and wants to trade because he is a WARRIOR that pacquiao is afraid of

It's not unfair to say he quit, because he did. Essentially he called a halt to the contest because he felt the damage he sustained was (or could be) detrimental to his future career or health.
a better question would be "was Kell Brook right to Quit at that point".
In retrospect I don't think anyone can argue he wasn't. He had a broken eye socket and says he couldn't see out of it. ive heard a lot of people slam the referee and corner of Gerald McClellan for not pulling him out when he was blinking a lot ..... hindsight a wonderful thing sometimes

I'v'e had a lot of injuries so many my mates say i've got 29 lifes ha ha , and a broken eye socket is one of them, i could'nt see at all out of that eye within , seconds it was blurred within minuites it was shut completly the swelling was so bad it looked like the little bit of a slit you could see was on the cheek , and I certainly would'nt of wanted to go ANOTHER 2 RNDS with a big punching world champ .
Only thing that i raised my eybrows about was on both occasions what seemed like the lack of swelling , but heh every one is different , facts are though if he could'nt see Get the hell out of there .

Grossly unfair to say he quit.
The injury occurred in the 6th...ironically a round where Brook was starting to put Spence to the sword(which highlights what a freak, lucky punch it was)
Brook fought on for several more rounds with the injury and also with the knowledge of what it was playing on his mind. He rallied in the 10th when he could have stayed down or looked for intervention from the referee. He tried to retrieve the fight but he wasn't going to win anything come the 11th so did the right thing rather than absorbing any more punishment for the sake of it.
Brook was unlucky, Spence got lucky. But for that injury Brook would have won, he'd shown over the first half that he had the measure of Spence, but the injury turned the fight on its head. Fair enough Spence was throwing punches and caused it, but it came totally against the run of play in a round where Brook was giving it him and looking on his way to a stoppage win! And its the type of injury that is not routine. Its relatively rare.
Providing Brook recovers from the injury/surgery.....he'll be an improved fighter at 154 and we'll see him reign again.

All these people slagging kel need to look at what he as achieved.i think hes proved himself and spence is a quality fighter but my opinion was kel was shattered from round six.there was nothing left in the tank at all.was it weight could have been was he short of stamina training no one will know only kel himself.when i saw how ripped he was i thought he would tire quick.he needs to rest and come back at 11st he will be winning titles again.all boxers have an off day

Putting him to the sword? Stoppage on the cards?
Come off it.

Kell done the right thing in staying down, his health always comes first.
So unlucky the same injury in the other eye

Doesn't deserve the bullshit he's getting. He knew he was in a bad way, it dawned on him. For a warrior like him to quit must have been tough.
But Errol Spence, wow. I saw someone state Brook is a fraud for losing, but let's not take anything away from this guy, he's arguably no.1 in the division.

Agree mate. If he'd have folded as soon as it got tough then fair enough but it was an enjoyable fight and he did fight through some difficult phases in there especially the tenth. He gave it a go and it wasn't to be. You can't fukk around with your eyes.

Doesn't deserve to be labelled a quitter and the thread poll is unfair also.
There's no mas, Charles Martin missing the count on purpose type quitting
Then there's brook vs spence type situation. Completely different, but for some when you write it down in black and white it spells the same thing.
Brook fought hard fight, got beat by a stronger opponent, was hurt and injured and felt he couldn't go on.

Brook made the right choice. He has fought two of the biggest punchers in boxing and they could not crack that neanderjaw.
Kell Brook may have the toughest jaw in boxing. Unfortunately for him, the rest of his skull is suspect.

I think you're right mate. Spence would no doubt win again if they had a rematch. I'm a big Brook fan but he's 31 coming off two defeats, two bad injuries and two operations and Spence is only going to improve IMO.

if he thought he was ahead on the cards would that injury have forced him to take a knee? No
He quit.

That's a fair point - must admit I always suspected Brook might be slightly chinny, but he showed that he could tell a punch very well despite consecutively being stopped twice inside the distance.

I get what he's saying but we're trying to judge what's the reason behind him stopping and then it's thrown in that he predicts if he was ahead on cards he keeps going. So now we're making assumptions on complete hypothetical situations!

He had an excellent round in the 6th and on the basis of the first 6 rounds he was far more likely to have been a stoppage winner. The eye injury turned the fight on its head.
