Nice interview , Daniel more relaxed and chatty than usual! Nice to see his personality showing through . He clearly still is a bit nervous in front of the spotlight.

I think once he relaxes more and gets used to TV and the crowd etc he will start improving his performances . Having seen him spar before He is definitely better much than he has shown in his early fights !

I understand the strategy I just don't agree with it. The fact you call it bogus suggests you don't agree with it either. You are just happier to accept it.
It's part of the game. Anthony Yarde had the same type of fight a built up record guy with no shot of winning and no more competitive and that wasn't a late replacement. No difference in terms of competition the weight made no difference that guy had no shot just like Yarde opponent.
He was at least the same weight division as Yarde though, correct?
Did it really matter in the result I think Dubois opponent lasted longer I think.

Of course there was but the record of this guy probably looked much better same reason Yarde opponent was picked the record looked better than the fighter.

It's not about the result. it's about a huge guy hitting a much smaller guy versus 2 guys the same size fighting and the increased and unnecessary risk involved .

You think the Dubois opponent was perfectly acceptable and I don't. We're not going to agree so let's just leave it there.

That should've been the kind of opponent he had on Saturday. Not a light heavy.

You're right, when I watched the fight I was thinking 'this is dangerous'. When you've got such a big, powerful guy against a career light heavy/cruiser who doesn't have much of a defence; it's a recipe for disaster.

Might not be to everyone's liking but if you look at Wlad , Lennox they had a few little guys in their early fights, it's the norm really !

If they are competent you can often learn more from a smaller quicker guy than a static oaf !

I dont think Dubois had the experience to inflict any serious damage. Im not saying it could never happen but when was the last time we heard of an accident caused by a reletively new novice? Dubois isnt Ivan Drago. I know the guy was 15-1 but was it exactly the worse match made for a 3-0. To be honest the guy has experience and training on his side. I dont think disaster is the right word and Dubois has to fight someone. 15-1 is better than someone with a record of the standard he was going to fight or even a Bulgarian with no wins on his record. Conor Benn has been fighting less adiquate opposition imo.

All the opponent was picked for was the 15-1 record to put on paper to make Dubois record look better.

He was 3 stone heavier fighting a light heavyweight. Joke of a fight.

At least put him in with Darch / Kisicek / Gospic - and see if he gets rid of them as quick - but at least match him with a heavyweight.

You don't have to have experience to inflict harm on an opponent. All you need is the ability to put your full body weight behind a punch and land. The key reason why novices rarely inflict serious damage on an opponent is because they're only in 4-6 round bouts.

However, when you've got such a big difference in size and weight between opponents it makes things more dangerous - especially when the smaller guy has poor fundamentals as was the case with this fight. Yes, the chances of serious harm are small, but still I don't like to see these terrible mismatches with regards size, skill and power. There were a couple of terrible examples early in Joshua's career too.

I have to say it's early days, and whilst he can hit hard and is big and strong.... I find myself somewhat underwhelmed by him.

He is quite slow and clumsy, and reminds me very much of Bruno, if slightly less upright. He even has Bruno's low IQ.

Plenty of time I guess.

other than size this fight was no less competive than the Yarde fight.
