He didn't quit , he may have wanted to but he didn't quit.
Nicolas Walters vs Lomachenko is what quitting is
Duran vs Leonard is what quitting is
Vitali Klitscko vs Byrd is what quitting is
Kovalev was willing to accept his punishment and he got in the form of three consecutive low blows which by the letter of the law should have been at minimum 5 minutes rest, or a win for Kovalev buy DQ, Yes Ward did fight better continuing his improved tactics of the last 6 rounds of the first fight, which along with low blows and border line shots where leading to the probable KO of Kovalev. Kovalev was gassed but none the less winning the fight by a wide margin on points in my view and think the judges view when he got KO'd.

The main things Krusher did wrong was 1. hiring that that no good traitor of a trainer and 2. Agreeing to fight again in LV, the crookedest city in the world, after he had already been blatantly robbed there the first time, and 3. not hitting Ward back below the belt when Ward continued to do it to him with the Las Vegas so called referee of course not seeing a thing except visions of the cash the mob was going to pay him.

I was a fan of John David Jackson for 30 years.. Not anymore... Now I know he's the biggest piece of skat in the universe.
The first thing that amazed me was hearing that John David Jackson tried to give Kovalev's training secrets away to the Ward camp -- something they said they rejected.. Then they said JDJ tried to leave Kovalev and join the Ward camp -- which was also rejected.. Jackson then called Hunter, Ward, and others in the Ward camp "a pack of liars" and said "My relationship with Kovalev is now stronger than ever because of all the lies they told."
Now it looks like John David Jackson has been the liar -- and is on the outs with Kovalev because Sergei's getting nothing but half assed coaching from him.

Yea Jackson looking like someone you don't want in your corner. Don Turner said some bad stuff too about Kovalev, Sergey fell in with some fair weather friends there man..well hopefully Kovalev will be more astute in picking team mates(coaches), maybe Klimas can help him find some better people (even though Klimas used to work for Don Turner) for the final couple of years of his career, as Able Sanchez says Kovalev has trust issues,I am sure they won't get any better after dealing with Turner and Jackson.

True.
I have not read any of his diatribe(s). Do not need a trainer or anyone else to tell me what I witnessed in the rematch; Krushedner quit.
Yeah pretty much. Tony Weeks definitely should've been issuing warnings or point deductions for some of those egregious low blows, but rather than looking to the referee and complaining Kovalev should've been low blowing Ward back. That's what I'd do in the ring. You hit me in the balls, and the ref don't say nothing to you...I'm gonna hit you twice in the balls, or headbutt you in the face or something.
Exactly. That's what i was disappointed in Kovalev about. He's a tough guy. Why was he trying to play nice and fair like the baby face when he was in there with the Weeks and Ward tag team heels, with turncoat Jackson back in his corner too? Some wrestling story line. He should have turned heel and KOd Weeks and his girlfriend with solid below the belt blows, and then KOd the Las Vegas wise guys all dressed up in their fancy italian cut judge suits. That would have been the proper story line. And then you could have had Boxingmania 3 with Jackson in the Ward corner along with Weeks, where they belong

I hope if Bob Arum steals your idea you get a cut of the action. That would be funny as hell Weeks and Jackson in Wards corner..With maybe Kathy Duva and take your pick in Kovalev's corner..

•
John David Jackson: "Sergey Kovalev is a real A*shole - He quit against Ward"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84lxN-Np47M
For the record, he elaborates on the justification for his criticism of Sergey Kovalev, which I feel addresses some of the complaints targeted against him within multiple threads in this forum.
Whilst I’m still unsure about whether or not he should have delivered his scathing criticism of Krusher in this manner, his thoughts about the Russian are deeply intriguing.

I intentionally create threads that have provocative subject matters, because it compels people to read them and contribute to the discussion.
This is probably the most popular non-MayMac thread created within the last ten days! It’s outdone any topics about the GGG-Canelo fight and it's not even 18 hours old! I couldn’t be happier.
If I only wanted people to agree with my opinion, I would have stopped frequenting this place a very long time ago!
Is it really that difficult for you to see that I enjoy the banter?

I'm freaking blown away right now! At 7:15 into that clip, John David Jackson proves to me that he gave away intel on his own fighter prior to the rematch with Ward! It's disgusting enough that he was negotiating with his boxer's opponent right before training camp. But the pleasure that JDJ got from seeing Kovalev take a beating in camp by a Cruiserweight, makes it even more obvious he betrayed Serge.
At 7:15 in the clip, JDJ was explaining that once he saw how Serge was in camp and how he wasn't planning on changing anything for Ward in the rematch that he knew that if "
WARD DOES WHAT HE'S SUPPOSED TO DO, HE'S (Serge) IN TROUBLE"
Umm excuse Mr. Jackson but how the HELL did you know what Ward was "SUPPOSED" to do in the fight? That's how crooks talk to each other before a burglary. What a disgusting piece of garbage this guy is.
Look, Serge Kovalev could be the biggest dick in the world. So he puts his name on stuff but who doesn't? All these young fighters building their brand do it. Freaking Amir Khan has his own trademark for godsake. Canelo doesn't wear anything without his name all over it. GGG too. Serge was right up there with all of them so no idea why that bothers JDJ other than he's just jealous.
If Boxing was worth a damn, this clip would be cause for an investigation. I"m not joking or coming up with conspiracy theories. JDJ gave away intel to his boxers opponent's team in an effort to make money AND get back at Kovalev. Disgusted.
