I'm quite confident Haymon doesn't want this fight, he's scared as hell and would do anything to avoid this fight.candyslim wrote:I don't think that's going to be anything to worry about. Why? Because I believe Haymon wants the fight and so, with a few reservations, does Wilder.asdfjkl wrote:Me neither, I really hope they don't fake even more dopingtests!
Why does Wilder want such a dangerous opponent - has he undergone a character transplant?
No, I think Deontay is a proud man and the criticism of his resume has now reached such a height that he genuinely wants to stick it to his critics even if doing so is a massive risk. Add to that Ortiz is starting to look like he might have hit the skids, so it's a gamble but Deontay might just have got him at exactly the right time.
It might seem like this is having a pop at Wilder but that isn't my intention. I mean it's great to be a hero and fight the best around if you're blessed with the talents of a Leonard or a Mayweather mark two, but those of less extravagant abilities must be a little more circumspect. It's easy for me to sneer at his previous lack of ambition from the comfort of my armchair, I realize that.
