If Price wasn’t English, we’d be laughing at this I reckon!

First round job
For Price :D

Why does he put himself through it,he was a bag of nerves last time out and looked awful. Povetkin will no doubt be trying to take his head off from the first bell.

I think the Hammer fight ended that.

It's probably just the last desparate oppertunity he can get.

To channel Kevin Keegan for a minute - I will love it if Price beats Povetkin. I will love it.

BitPlayer wrote: 02 Feb 2018, 12:53 Yeah Price looked better, but he was going against much inferior opponents.

There's no way he'd have beaten Fury. Fury has shown he can win a hard fight, Price always falls apart.
Fury would win now obviously unless his time out has obliterated him but Price seems to have hit something of a mental wall. At the time he would have been undefeated, used to going through opposition and Fury looked very hittable.

Would love to see Price starch Povetkin but it's just not gonna happen is it! Pov in 2/3.

Seen you can get 1/9 on for the fight not to go the distance, POV is likely to do him early but Price can bang, that's free money I reckon.

Povetkin genuinely has trouble with tall fighters so this might assist him getting some fight practice against a boxer of AJ like dimensions but I don't see it being more than about 6 minutes practice.

I remember Wach knowing exactly what he had to do -keep it long and keep jabbing but he couldn't keep it up. Price's jab is like a feather boa and he doesn't exactly have Wach's extreme toughness so it seems Eddie has simply ordered a highlight reel KO of someone even bigger than AJ to help market the eventual fight to the casuals.

It's impossible to predict this fight without a cringing shudder at the thought of the terrified giant being battered by some guy 2/3 of his size.

I sometimes wonder what exactly it is that makes Price keep climbing through the ropes. Its a bit like someone who suffers from claustrophobia keep on getting into a lift and just pressing the button hoping it will feel different this time. I stated earlier in the thread that Price isn't a shambling wreck who doesn't know his own mind and he comes across as an intelligent bloke, he has an honest trade and there's really nothing much to dislike about him.

I reckon he honestly thinks that Eddie has done him a big favour here, another chance at the big time . Is he skint perhaps? Does he think he will eventually overcome his demons and come through a crisis in the ring? Is he simply hoping to unload that big right hand on someones chin before he gets tagged himself? Is he addicted to fear in some self-masochistic way?

I've never been comfortable with heights to be honest but I sometimes find the thought of climbing a ladder to clean the gutters irresistible for some reason. When I get to the top of the ladder my knees turn to jelly and I want to cling on hard and I feel dizzy but I know I will do it again!
:maybe:

I think with his olympic success, and early pro hype, and all puts put into this, it's just too hard to admit to himself that he's not got it.

ya you may be right

randomly reminds me of how i have a friend who had an early growth spurt and was way taller than all of us as kids and could push us around and had ppl talking him up as a hw champ and sports star. but then he stopped growing at like 13 while everyone had their spurts and he went from the big man future hw champ to being like 5'7 / 145 and shorter than some of the girls who used to like him because he was so tall and it made them feel girly

he seriously has mental issues these days in his 30s because he cant get over the fact that hes not the big man jock everyone used to have to look up to. walks around with his shoulders back and chin up like hes trying to convince himself he is

of course not that pricey can identify with not being tall enough

"All i can do is get in the ring and just hope. Without sounding too negative."

Does he even think he has a prayer of winning? Sounds like he is expecting to be starched.

This is simply the difference between an olympic gold medal and an olympic bronze medal. Price is the real bronze bomber.

well i mean hes been terrified vs the likes of teper, hammer, and 1 knockout sokolowski, so i cant imagine how hes not utterly terrified and self doubting vs someone way better then all of them

Yeah he will be petrified of povetkin in there. emptying the tank with nervous energy before the first bell and then pawing with then jab until countered and starched. i hope he somehow gets povetkin going but i think price himself realizes his situation. povetkin actually is pretty intimidating when you think about it

It's almost impossible to see anything else than a win inside 3 rounds for Povetkin, the only way I can see Price doing anything is just loading up on that right from the off, Price has shown he badly runs out of steam later on in a fight, and his mind can't get those nervous thoughts out of his head.
This fight reminds me of Charles Martin Vs Tom Dallas , and will probably have the same outcome.

I really like Pricey an its good to see him being so honest, but his confidence looks nearly gone completely there. Good interview though, never heard of boxing social before

Yeah good questions from the interviewer there.

I'm just hoping Price can be a bit more relaxed as the underdog and let his hands go - rather than nervously reaching with his left hand until Povetkin inevitably KOs him.
