Yeah makes me think it's more like a gun-fight from the wild west than a boxing match. Hopefully not such dire consequences for the loser :D

It's quite amazing.

For years, Ortiz was talked up as the heir apparent.

He was widely considered to be the best HW not holding a title; WBS belt or mythical Linear title included, yet after getting stopped by Wilder, who many thought would never fight someone like Ortiz, now he's ancient, chinny & unwell! :witzend:

I see Povetkin is now being talked up as the new bogeyman apparent & when & if he gets sparked, what will they say then?

Of course, some will say that Wilder wouldn't fight Povetkin, even though he has already signed to fight the man once before.

I haven't be a traditional Wilder fan, but he's grown on me in recent times & I find it hard that folk are trying to belittle his achievement & not give him the credit that he is due.
F that man. I'm with you. Anyone diminishing Ortiz's ability after the performance he just put in, doesn't know boxing and loses all credibility with me. How many years have we suffered through a disastrous heavyweight division lacking of talent? Ortiz showed tremendous skill, heart, speed and conditioning in that fight. Anyone saying any less is a waste of time reading. In fact, that's the best i've seen Ortiz fight and it was a loss. I've seen about 5 of his fights too.

To me, the days of seeing a guy like Tyson Fury walking around with Heavyweight belts is over. Now we have some real talent in the division and that will spread like wildfire and inspire more talented boxers. It's the way it goes.

But you are right my friend.
You have no credibility. And secondly, Wilder was a heavy favorite for a reason. Ortiz was a fat old man that looked horrible going into the fight.

Second thing underlined made me understand that you didn't follow his career and lost all credibility with me.
Coming from a Mikey Garcia buttboy like yourself, that means absolutely nothing. If you can't credit a boxer for getting up off the canvas and fighting his heart out then go watch Soccer and leave us alone. MEN are speaking here, thank you.

Fat old man? what do you look like dude? I can only imagine. One of those key clicking tough guys that has never been in a fight in his life. Go away or just ignore me and my brilliant opinions if you don't understand them.

Surely we should be able to agree that both Wlad and Luis may not quite be the fighter they were at their very best, but they both produced a remarkable performance to test AJ and Deontay to their limits.

You can't play down the achievement of either champ without indirectly belittling that of the other, so let's celebrate two fine young(ish) champions, two amazing old campaigners, and two of the best heavyweight championship fights seen for many a year.

Much respect to all four of them !

I wouldn't call it luck. Wilder had everything in his favor, which is why they were dying to get Ortiz in the right and not doing the same for Povetkin.

Even with a stylistic advantage, though, Wilder still struggled and got outboxed. He has a good eraser, his straight, but if he doesn't land it, he loses wide. Several had Ortiz up on the cards by a lot. Forget the crooked official scorecards. Wilder was getting outboxed. Ortiz controlled the ring throughout.

I wish Pulev was more inclined to fight top fighters instead of sitting pretty holding on to his mandatory status. He would've beaten the version of Ortiz that fought Wilder.
