I got asked on multiple occasions on Saturday: What happens if one of them doesn’t get knocked out.

OMG!!! LMFAO!!! I need more, this is hysterical. I have to admit, I had a couple guys over for Wilder/Ortiz who kept referring to Ortiz as "that kong guy." But I still get surprised. Maybe Mayweather can fight Brock Lesner too!

How would AJ cope with McGregor’s unorthodox angles tho?

Bloke at work told me that Mayweather was a Heavyweight ! I would go to shows again if I thought there would be likeminded folk there to chew the boxing fat with but its just mainly knobheads these days that have barely a clue what's going on, saying that, I actually don't know anyone offline that I could have a no holds barred boxing chat/debate with which is a bit crap really !

It’s not so bad when casuals show their ignorance but haven’t pretended or made out they were experts in the first place

I remember years ago when Kimbo Slice was fighting for Elite XC that this acquaintance who knew I loved boxing said, "He (Kimbo) is a very good boxer." I knew he was just being friendly, making conversation, so I didn't really bust his balls about it. Especially since I would hear casuals often say (at that time) that Tyson could beat anyone, without them realizing he'd been retired for a few years because he couldn't beat anyone with a pulse anymore.

I think there are different level's of "causals".... there are what I call true fight fans (my old man would have been in that category) who might not be able to list all the champions in every devision but would at least have an appreciation of the skills of boxing and weights.

He might not have known about Errol Spence Jnr pre Brook or the likes of Keith Thurman, but he would bloody know that they are stones lighter than Joshua and wouldn't even entertain such a bout. I know plenty of people with encyclopedic knowledge of boxing, but I would have still rather discuss boxing with my old man cos he would understand weights and tactics etc - having watched the sport all his life when it was on terrestial TV etc. Then if he saw the likes of Spence or Thurman (usually I would show such fights on DVD for him a few weeks later) he'd usually have a pretty accurate discussion on how much of a future they have and he'd talk about them and give a reasoned debate about the likes of Thurman vs Khan etc.

Sort of like when John Conteh was the pundit for Holyfield vs Moorer 2 - he called it for Holyfield all the way through the telecast, until he saw a US promo for the fight which gave some highlights of their first fight.... then he said "oh I've changed my mind seeing that - didn't realise how much Moorer dominated".... Okay a poor show for a pundit, but that type of casual fan is good to have a discussion with.

But these idiots who talk about Joshua vs Merryweather etc - well..... I don't even know if I could call them casuals.... cos causals should mean "causal fans of the sport" - I don't even think they can be called a fan, they don't even know the basic rules. I was just amazed at how much were usual the stadium purely as a venue as part of a pub crawl.

"Casual" boxing fans don't generally join Boxing forums to discuss the sport. So I doubt too many on here are casuals...trolls perhaps just looking to start arguments, but not casuals.

Most of them don't bother me and a few actually make me laugh.
But a few of them make me go crazy with their crap. I'm sure you have the same problem

I don't understand why so many people get wound up by casuals, I see people like that as elitists, getting all wound up because somebody who doesn't watch much boxing said something silly.

I guess it depends on your experience, but occassionally the casual also gets wound up because they are convinced you are talking bollocks - like when you say "Joshua vs Merryweather will never happen because of the weight difference" - they will often go "WTF are you talking about, and you call yourself a fan"..... sometimes you just then want to punch them in the face - off course adhering to Marquess of Queensbury rules.

I went to see AJ vs Whyte at the O2 and sat floor, maybe 2-3 rows behind the VIP ringside area and I got in during the Malignaggi fight so the arena was pretty empty at this point and slowly filled up as the undercard went on.

Next thing this guy and his misses arrived and sat in the seats in front of me and some of the things he was coming out with was mental... let me share a few.

Rings his mate as soon as they sat down " OMG mate, these seats are amazing! AJ is going to be literally feet away from me, we are sat right near where all the famous people sit "

To his bird " OMG I cant believe we are this close to Tony Bellew "
"Bellew is good but nothing on AJ"
" I knew Luke Campbell would loose, there goes his chance of fighting AJ "
Martin J Ward was taking selfies with fans wearing his EBU boxing belt...
" OMG look babe, theres Luke Campbell holding Bellews belt!! "

After round 1 when the little fracas happened in the ring .. "Holy shit! who are those guys! AJ would smash them all "
" Id have got in the ring if any of them would have tried anything with AJ "

Me and my mates were cringing the whole time, he was loud with it as well :brick:
