OUCH! One of the greatest days of my life was Douglas kayoing Tyson! I went hoarse screaming so much!
I actually got in a fight when Douglas won.
I jumped out of my seat knock8ng my chair over at a bar and grill. It hit the lady behind me I apologized and offered to pay for their meal. The bastard threw a punch at me and the fight was on
More memories! The good ole days are gone forever! (did ya mark the guy up?)
He got me I hit him then everyone started beating the crap out of each other.
The cops were called me and the guy who started it ended up sneaking out and we shared a joint in the parking lot.
We became friends that night. Actually met up at a different bar and grill for several other sporting events.
He ended up dying in Afghanistan working as a private contractor. Good guy for a sorry bastard.( inside joke between us)

Unreal! Sorry to hear of his demise. How many times did we become great friends after a fight! We are a strange breed.

Several. The best one ever was the Lewis-Tyson fight. I was in a strange town I didn't know the area. So I went into a black biker bar.
Everyone was cheering for Tyson and I'm screaming for Lewis. They were getting pissed but by the end of the night we were shooting pool and I didn't have to pay for any good or drinks.
Best night of boxing ever

It's amazing how a simply planned evening out can morph into an awesome night! I had a similar experience watching the 2000 world series in NYC upper east side. I was the only Yankee fan and believe me I looked like every part a yankee fan. I was abused at first, and then shots and bowls!

What I'm interpreting from some of the nutters defending Wilder's words, is that stupidly offensive things should continue to happen, simply because they occurred in the past.
They clearly feel that civilisation shouldn't be allowed to evolve and learn from mistakes, because their nostalgia compels them to believe that nothing in today's world is better than the “good old days”.
I wonder if their opinion is consistent and applicable to all stupidly offensive things that have occurred in the past or do they allow their bias to selectively pick-and-choose to defend the heinous actions of certain individuals, simply because they support those particular people.
Perhaps these people forget about the real dangers involved in the sport of boxing, without appreciating that fatalities and life-changing injuries are a reality, whereby such tragedies should be mourned rather than exploited for self-promotional purposes in order to hog media spotlight.
Boxing isn't the WWE.
We're not defending Wilder's trash-talk, just not taking it seriously like you sanctimonious snowflakes are. It's just TALK, whether it's intended to intimidate future opponents or sell tickets/PPVs. All the whining and sanctimonious hand-wringing from you drama queens make me wonder if you even followed the sport when psycho thugs like Tyson were doing far worse, not just talk but actions in the ring.
Were you even following boxing back then and if so were you similarly whining and hand-wringing over Tyson's insane antics as documented in this video?
* Threatening to kill specific fighters in the ring like Frans Botha and Razor Ruddock
* Threatening to tear out Lennox Lewis' heart and eat his children
* Screaming threats at a white reporter who offended him with a question that he would rape and kill the guy that he called a "little white faggot"
* Telling Razor Ruddock in a joint interview that he would rape AND kill him.
* Telling a reporter "I wish you had children so I could stomp on their testicles"
* Biting off Holyfield's ear in the middle of their fight
* A whole lot more that defies sanity
Many of us despised Tyson and rooted against him in every fight. But we never took his insanity seriously enough to resort to whining and hand-wringing like you sanctimonious snowflakes.
I'm just curious, what was your personal reaction to Tyson's antics back then, when he was actually doing this crap? Or were you still pooping your diapers back then?
The insults you're throwing at me don't change the fact that Deontay Wilder's comments are bringing the sport into disrepute, much moreso than fighters that have previously tested positive for the casual use of recreational drugs, but for some strange reason they receive bans, but 'The Bronze Bomber' doesn't.
Look, I understand your macho man point-of-view, but I follow the sport of boxing closely and I realise that fatalities and life changing injuries are inflicted on numerous boxers every year, simply because they chose to compete in our beloved sport.
For Wilder to exploit such tragic circumstances in order to grab the media headlines, for personal gain, whilst also providing ammunition to those that want to ban the sport whenever those tragedies occur, is simply unacceptable to me.
I'm not insulted by Wilder's words on a personal level, but I feel that he's either being greedy, by placing his own interests above the sport that pays his bills, or he's fûckîng monumentally stupid!
Repeating the very same silly fûckîng mistakes that other morons made before him, doesn't justify his absolutely atrocious behaviour.
If someone you admired intentionally tread in a huge steaming pile of dog shît, would you consider it honourable to try to repeat their feat? That's the gist of your argument.
Boxing isn't the WWE - it's dangerous a sport.
You may say it's only "TALK", but if Deontay's rhetorical hyperbole became a reality, how could he try to excuse his behaviour if he unintentionally fulfilled his "ambition" by actually killing someone?

Of course not and if you answer that question yes then you are lying to yourself. Boxing deaths and serious injuries did NOT increase during Tyson's reign of thuggery and threats.
That's because referees, commissions and ringside doctors have FAR MORE impact on fatalities/injuries than boxers and their trash-talk.
That's why I say folks like you (not you personally but the mindset you express) are overdramatizing the supposed affect that trash-talking actually has on the safety of boxing. I'm sure that, as boxing fans, you and I could sit down and enjoy watching a good fight together (as long as there was no "offensive" trash-talk).
My question about your reactions to Mike Tyson's outrageous talk/antics was not a rhetorical question but I asked it because I believe it has bearing on this debate. Many younger sports fans (not just boxing) come from the snowflake/safe-space generation who are easily offended by words.
So I am serious when I ask "What was your reaction to Tyson's thuggery in & out of the ring when it was happening in REAL TIME? Were you even following the sport back then?
In full disclosure on my part I have been a hardcore fight fan for just shy of 5 decades (since childhood). How about yourself?

The WBC probably won't enforce it though, since all of their rules are covered with a caveat about their application on being performed based on their sole discretion.

Nice dodge!!
I removed my statement about being a hardcore fan for just shy of 5 decades since it is unverifiable. (Anyone can claim to be anything on the Internet.) But I refuse to remove the VERY relevant question of whether you were following the sport in during Tyson's prime thuggery (and if so what your reaction was to his antics).

I never attempt to respond to strawman debating tactics.
Either stick to the topic of the discussion or create a separate thread.
Revise the content of your post, by excluding your superfluous and irrelevant questions/claims.
Stop being a tûrd!
I'm not answering shîttŷ questions about irrelevant shît, such as commenting on the correlation between the volume of serious injuries in comparison to boxers to trash-talking, because it has absolutely fûck áll to do with our discussion.
I flatly refuse to consider addressing strawman debating tactics like that.

So do you honestly think if fighters stopped trash-TALKING that there would be fewer deaths and seriously tragic injuries (like Abdulasamov, McClellan) in boxing?
Of course not and if you answer that question yes then you are lying to yourself. Boxing deaths and serious injuries did NOT increase during Tyson's reign of thuggery and threats.

In full disclosure on my part I have been a hardcore fight fan for just shy of 5 decades (since childhood). How about yourself?

I don't give a flying fukc if I get banned for what I'm about to say.
You are a sanctimonious ass-hat.
Who only wants to hear themself talk.
Though you sometimes make a valid point.
You attempt to control the flow of conversation with ridiculous "Facts" that have nothing to do with the topic.
You then refuse to answer direct comments when directed at you pertaining to your Facts
You are a pompous ass-hat. Telling people they owe you an apology or to admit they are wrong. By far the most immature poster on this forum.
For the love of God fukc off
You asked me a question, thinking that I couldn't answer it, but I did and this embarrasses you.
Someone else asks me all sorts of irrelevant shîté that has fûck àll to do with our discussion and you're offended because I won't follow orders?
You're upset, because I refuse to change the topic of discussion?

The insults you're throwing at me don't change the fact that Deontay Wilder's comments are bringing the sport into disrepute, much moreso than fighters that have previously tested positive for the casual use of recreational drugs, but for some strange reason they receive bans, but 'The Bronze Bomber' doesn't.
Mister I only use facts can you answer my question.
Which rule in the WBC has Wilder broke that give legal rights to ban Wilder?
Please quote the rule that states this
Section 5.9 (b) iv
The WBC probably won't enforce it though, since all of their rules are covered with a caveat about their application on being performed based on their sole discretion.
you are a fucktard.
5.9 b is directly stating to not slur the name of the Wbc.
No where does it come close to stating any correlation to moral turpitude.
You try and use facts and can't eve comprehend a simple statement in their rules

Can you not read a full sentence?
Slurring, insulting, or bringing disrepute to the WBC or the sport of boxing.
Care to apologise?
You thought you were asking a smart ássed question that couldn't be answered, but I did it!

I wouldn't apologize to a sanctimonious pile of crap like you if I was paid to.
The rule has never been enforced because of being so vague. The only time it was ever even investigated upon was Canelo talk in crap about the wbc. And you saw how far that went they still defend him
Boxers are not not have never been held to moral high standards.
Should it change? Probably but I doubt any of us see it in our lifetime

You asked me to quote the rule and I did, but you insulted me anyway, thinking that I misread it.
When I subsequently quoted the rule in its entirety verbatim, you conceded my point, but insulted me again, despite you reiterating a point I'd already made.
And for some reason, you genuinely feel you've taken the moral high ground by persistently insulting me, when I haven't attacked you personally?
You're need to step away from the booze for a few hours and sober up!
You shouldn't use technology unless it's functionality can only be enabled by passing a breathalyser test.

Dude your constant belittling of every poster drives me up a wall. I will add you to ignore to make this site a slightly more enjoyable place.
I wish you well. Have a good night

You asked me to detail a "fact" relating to the existence of a specific rule and I politely fulfilled your request.
I don't know how you can be seriously offended and "belittled" by someone quoting one of the WBC's rules, especially when you asked them to do so?
You became all angry, irrational and emotional over someone's ability to quote a rule, to the point you insulted me numerous times before I felt compelled to mock your behaviour.
Refrain from using the forum if you can't handle your beer.

First at off I do not drink because of heart issues.
I take your belittling not only from post responses to myself but to most who dare question you.
Again I have blocked you so I will only see what you post when you quote me.
With the little time I have left on earth I do not wish to argue with someone I do not like or respect.
Again I wish you well

So you admit to attacking me personally without me having provoked you directly beforehand, even though I politely substantiated one of the claims that you challenged?
And you also admit to feeling belittled and deeply insulted about my ability to quote one of the WBC's rules, despite you actually asking me to do so!
And finally, you also admit to insulting me on a personal level several times before I reacted?
If alcohol isn't the reason for your overreaction, then perhaps you're in a particularly emotional state, which has resulted in your overreaction.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, amigo. I should have known better than to try reasoning with someone pompous and elitist enough to call himself The "Enlightened One". The scary part is that you seem to actually believe it.
