I believe Gavin has come to fight, and knowing too much was at stake for the promoters, the fight will go ahead.

I think Gavin never intended to go under 147. He was 153 when he fought a warm up match in September. For Gavin a win over highly ranked Lejarraga is more important than the EBU title. He arrived late in Bilbao, with the perfect story to make an excuse for not making the weight, and his trainer pulling out last Sunday was probably because of this.

Gavin has looked sharp and confident over the last months, and is in good physical shape. I think he wanted to have a weight advantage to stand a better chance against Lejarraga, to bring his career back on track.

If this is how it is, Gavin deserves a beating. Lejarraga was 146 pounds, and now needs to rehydrate and recover. Gavin can gain more weight too, meaning Lejarraga, who is a big and strong welter, will not have the same advantage he would have had if Gavin had to make 147.

It won't make no difference Gavin should be making the weight fairly comfortably with his size and frame. It's not as if he has come in 4lbs over eating healthy and drinking water. Lejarraga will probably look just as big as Gavin in the ring.

Gavin will get wiped out here after a couple of rounds.

So obviously Gavin can't win the title but are they doing one of those scenario's where the Spaniard can still lose it if he gets beat and then it becomes vacant, or are they just doing a 10 or 12 round catchweight.

Not seen a single announcement confirming any distance, title, or non title.

Just curious how the EBU are dealing with this.

I know in world title's they just say the above.

I've done that boat the bilbao. To be honest they were a bit mad even leaving it as late as the originally planned Sunday. That journey is long and can be so rough. If you get a bad crossing as we did it takes you some time to get over it so a bit of an unnecessary risk to do it less than a week before.

On a serious note with the food....he knows he could take his own food yeah?
