Re: Tyson Fury next fight 18th August
His opponent was meant to be announced this morning (per a tweet over the weekend or on Friday by FW) but still no sign....
I always find it strange how any promoter can make a pre annoucnemt like that and then go silent. Surely everything is signed and sealed before they say when the opponent is being announced?! All promoters are guilty of it but FW seems worse than most.

I honestly don't get it. I know boxing can't be any further from day to day life but imagine being assigned a job to do by your boss/client.
You have 6 weeks to do this but you tell them you will have it done /announced Monday. Monday comes and you just ignore the fact you said it would be done Monday. You dont even address it and give any sort of reason to why it wasn't delivered.
How this man has a job when he clearly is so inept at the smallest of things. It's not like this is a one off.

Re: Tyson Fury next fight 18th August
What happened with announcing an opponent? When is it happening now?
Re: Tyson Fury next fight 18th August
It doesn't look like this comeback is gathering much momentum .
Re: Tyson Fury next fight 18th August
If W@rren focused on his job rather than hating & berating Hearns he might have more shows & less cancellations.

Re: Tyson Fury next fight 18th August
Maybe there's conflict behind the scenes over the quality of opposition. In a strange turn, perhaps it's Wabbit who's calling for a more respectable name.
Fury has the luxury of not having to prove himself for the time being. He's still in the big picture unless he loses, but he's harming his chances bigtime if he doesn't start pushing himself now. He's in a tough place mentally, because if he gets smashed by Joshua then his whole career's gonna be written off by most. Whereas by never fighting him he'll keep his theoretical win by reputation.
A more humble man could've fought and lost without losing much (gained more respect, even), but Fury's built up too many haters and the humiliation of a bad loss would crush him. If he never wants to fight on a big stage again I understand that — I'd wish him well in retirement, but you can't piss around like this if you want to be taken seriously as a champ-in-waiting.

Better to get himself in shape and have a go rather than wonder what might have been. This next opponent will be another turnip!

Re: Tyson Fury next fight 18th August
Given we’re over half way through the year he’s also staged far fewer shows - and far less than he said he would be when he signed up with BT.
I’m not sure I’d agree Warren has put on better non-PPV shows. Both have had decent shows and both have promoted poor cards. It’s just Matchroom have done more of both.

Who thinks Fury won't be on the August 18th show?
The bizarreness of announcing that (today ) there'd be the announcement of an opponent, and no announcement was made... Casts doubt on this comeback remotely running smooth.

Aye. http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/141221
The thing is, I enjoy watching him box (sometimes!), but he's made his career so much harder than it needed to be with his talk. It doesn't help that John reacts to his feelings of persecution by talking up Tyson as the best heavyweight since Tyson/Holmes/Foreman. In any given year of his career, I think there was at least one other heavy who had his number. Wlad was said to have family problems and a lack of focus, but Fury got past him that night; fair play.
But now what? With John in the background ready to boil over with resentment and disappointment if he loses. It's a ton of pressure from both his dad and — because of his own mouth — himself. Losing shouldn't be the end of his world at all, but that's the corner he's walked into. (A lot of boxing fans have to take some of the blame for this modern culture, right enough.)
By comparison, Joshua could take the fight under minimal pressure. And I don't think he's afraid of Fury, whereas anyone who doesn't feel a bit threatened by AJ's daft. Of the active lot, that is. It's Fury's lack of public humility and honesty that's turned people against him, not the fact he's a traveller. If he'd just admit that he's wary of Joshua but wants a crack anyway... He'd probably be the fans' favourite then.

I wonder if these opponents get as late notice as everyone else?

He could be straight back into contention if he beat a Parker/Miller/Povetkin soon after this next knockover.
(Replace Parker with Whyte if he wins.)

Nobody has turned against him! He got a very respectable attendance against Seferi, as I said he would. As it stands, nobody has had his number, looking at the latest pics, he’s getting closer to peak fitness. I’d imagine the hold up is over cash. You’d want paying to box Fury. He’s probably already on a minimum fee on his contact, too. Paying Frampton as well, that’s a lot of wages.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑10 Jul 2018, 22:40Aye. http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/141221

Nothing ever runs smooth with him.

But Warren saying the opponent will be announced Monday and then not announcing it is Embarassing.
Not the first time he has done this.
If you don't have the opponent signed then don't say anything, it's really not difficult.

Definitely, I can see him being on the September 15th show at the O2 possibly BT Sports first PPV.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑10 Jul 2018, 22:09 Who thinks Fury won't be on the August 18th show? The bizarreness of announcing that (today ) there'd be the announcement of an opponent, and no announcement was made... It’ll be interesting to see how ticket sales go for his next headline fight. Whilst his attendance and viewing figures were strong for his return there were loads of people pissed off with the fight.Naandrew wrote: ↑11 Jul 2018, 02:36All valid points.mickey1975 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2018, 02:14Nobody has turned against him! I hope not but you never know when it comes to Tyson Fury. Personally I'm just glad to see him out fighting at this stage and am not really concerned about his opponents as he is obviously not ready for anyone decent.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑10 Jul 2018, 22:09 Who thinks Fury won't be on the August 18th show? The bizarreness of announcing that (today ) there'd be the announcement of an opponent, and no announcement was made...
