Yeah bit of movement really throws Joshua off kilter

Fury is a mover. Joshua would win, but he struggles with movers.
Anthony Joshua wouldn't struggle with this mover. Hughie is actually lucky that its 2018 and he is in a position to potentially fight Anthony Joshua. Hughie hasnt even fought anyone remotely above European level and I think im being generous saying that. Of course you could argue that Joseph Parker was a world title holder so i'm talking rubbish but Parker in all honesty while durable hadn't fought a genuine world class boxer that was dangerous, Botha, a 'has been' who was on a losing run, Carlos Takem who was up and down and again on the slide, but did have a bit of fun with Anthony Joshua and Derek Chisora. Andy Ruiz Jr who gave a fight and lost on MD. Parker then went on to fight Hughie in what was possibly the dullest heavyweight title fight in history and won by MD. The only 2 meaningful boxers Parker fought was Whyte and Joshua and was beaten by both. So if you want to class Parker as a genuine world class fighter, so be it. So looking at Hughies record to date there is nothing that can remotely suggest he has any chance against Joshua, infact i'm not even convinced Fury has a knock out punch to trouble Anthony Joshua. Mover or not this fight would not last 4 rounds.

Well, you would think all Pulev has to do is stay on his feet to win. Pulev hasn't had a bout for a year and a half so Hughie got a chance to beat up an aging Pulev. This is probably Hughie only chance he will have at fighting Joshua. Also, Mick Hennessy last chance as this is the only fighter left on his books. Hughie has done well at avoiding a lot of domestic fighters to get a title shot/eliminators.

I'm joining the, "no he doesn't" chorus.
Hughie's defensive movement IS really good - exceptional in a HW - but it couldn't even win a decision against a befuddled 'far away from home' Parker. AJ snaps him like a twig 9 times out 10 and wins on points the tenth.
The last skill-set I'd choose to take on AJ.

Quite looking forward to this next week. Will watch this over Ryder, hopefully they don’t clash.

The poll is dead even for a decision by either fighter. I wonder if it would be the same if the fight was held somewhere else :maybe:
Probably not

I think he will. Parker taught him a valuable lesson and it probably still irks him how easilly he could have won that fight. Sometimes a loss is better than a win for some guys.

I can't see how Pulev will win this unless he has 'help' from the judges,

good match up this.....ive always rated Pulev but depends what the Wlad KO took out of him. Fury has the best footwork in the heavyweight division (better than tyson F) and this fight is a cert to go the distance.

I expect Fury to try and keep Pulev busy for the first 6 or 7 rounds, make Pulev work and tire out......then down the stretch try and put it on him.

If fury does not get 'clocked' in the first 6 then i expect a Fury points decision or even a stoppage from round 10 onwards.

maybe a humiliated Pulev not getting off his stool between rounds due to an 'injury'.

so its certain to go the distance but a stoppage is a good possibility ?

Can't see anything but points. Pulev is a negative fighter and in his own backyard he'll be wanting to see the final bell even if the fight is very close.

Hughie doesn't have the power to stop Pulev. I don't think he's got the skills to trouble Pulev either.

I think the only reason people are giving Hughie a chance is because Pulev has been out of the ring for awhile and even though he's only 37. He looks 57.

Fury can force a stoppage. Have a high punch output, keep taging Pulev. Make it look like he's bullying Pulev. Against the ropes etc. But doubt ref would jump in.

Yeah that and the shoulder injury. You can never tell if fighter is the same after one of those.

Hughie doesn't have the power to bother Pulev. I see him running for 12 rounds, flicking out a few ineffectual punches and then protesting the inevitible decision loss.

It is an interesting fight as pre the AJ fight, he was considered top 5 in the world, with AJ, Wilder definitely rated higher then an opinion on the next three or four between Pulev, Povetkin, Parker and Ortiz.

Generous rating? Maybe, I am just saying where people where placing him a year or so ago.

Hughie stopping pulev is one of the more stranger predictions i’ve seen on here.

Ustinov, chisora ,thompson, dimitrenko etc couldn’t floor him but shades of ali is going to travel to his back yard and stop him :KO:

It’ll be a dull 12 rounder with both fellas unwilling to commit with the likely winner being pulev imo although fury is not without a chance of stealing a decision if the judges are fair and not swayed by the crowd which they almost certainly will be.

I wonder if Hughie losing this fight will cause people to not predict he’s gonna win by late stoppage in his next step up in class.

I suspect not.

the question with pulev is the age, inactivity, and injury. theres an element of unknown there. on the form from just a few years ago no way hughie stops or bossses him. but maybe hes not got much anymore?

that said i see it going how chiggsy says

also, talk of a new more aggressive fury, but imo that has very little basis when it was apparently demonstrated vs sexton. pulev is just vastly better then that and well more equipped to have hughie negative again. well see what happens. hughie defo has some good tools but ive seen a guy who might just lack the application for the high levels
