Ritson prolly by hometown decision. Win, lose, or draw, this was a great test for Ritson going forward, He's still an interesting prospect, regardless.

coming to the uk and beating an on fire guy like that is an excellent result

these guys with no real power or standout speed who get these wins intrigue me. a bit like mauricio herrera. they could be good teachers. i really thought patera didnt have the raw tools to hold off ritson.

I don’t find him particularly funny, he seems a bit of a weird chap and more than anything he really isn’t any good.

Fair play obviously, hope he earns well and gets big fights etc but he is very, very average at best.

Just goes to show that it is a fairly weak weight division for us the way Ritson blazed through the rest of the contenders in the UK .

But Patera isn't much, he was brought in specially to get beat, maybe this shows Ritsons level.
I don't see him as any better than the Belgium kid who beat Steve Foster Jnr

Good stuff from the Italian.
He looked like he'd bought a pea-shooter to a gun-fight early on, but he weathered the storm. Then he wrote the manual on 'how to beat a hyped-puncher' with a masterful display of boxing.
He's won some decent re-match money at the least.

Ive got Patera winning that 116-112, well deserved to win, Ritson was pretty poor and one dimentional , he had a great first 3 rounds, walking Patera down, cutting the ring off and thudding some hurtful jabs in and TBF Patera did try to get going early himself but Ritson was a lot stronger he was bullying Patera early on but after that Ritson seemed to loss the snap in his shots and the punches were slow and predictable, he kept trying to land the left hand to the body but couldn't quite get it off the way he wanted

Ritson could never land the right hand to the head clean either, he never hit Patera with any shots that should've put him down or KO'd him, Patera hurt him bad to the body in the 5th he was saved by the bell and was hurt again downstairs later on, he did try to make something happen but you knew he wasn't gonna find it

Patera boxed beautifully, threw the shots in combinations, boxed well on the back foot then again on the front foot forcing Ritson back and nailing him with some big right hands, he found Ritson easy to hit and avoided all that Ritson had

Ritson showed his ballz but you do worry for him if he's getting hurt by the likes of Patera and Cardle

Amusing, down to earth, not the best at what he does, has bounced back from a gambling addiction and failures in the ring etc.

I can see the appeal even if, like you, I’m not personally too sold on it.

I think he's capable of better, needs to learn to adapt more. I think he'll probably be limited at the very top, but I think he can still have a great career.

1/66 shot gets stuffed. I lost money on Ritson to win by stoppage. Last leg of an accumulator. Ritson was exposed. No counter punching ability at all. When someone throws at him all he can do is stand there with gloves up. Getting hurt badly at euro level is not abgood sign. We saw tonight that he is not good enough for world level for sure. Patera is solid euro level and Ritson was completely exposed. I don't think he wins a rematch either. Not sure where he can go. Very poor performance, so one dimensional.

Oh he seems like a decent bloke and I really hope he earns well etc but not sure boxing should cater for such stuff.
Has he even beat a top 100 heavyweight?

Every few weeks a -5000 to -7000 seems to lose. They seem to be British domestic fighters 90% of the time. Are Brits really lumping big dollars on these unproven novices to justify these lines? This is madness.

Yeah but it's even peaking in training, and even the psyching yourself to fight.

Good fight for Ritson at this stage of his career. Got beat and hurt but showed character to stay in there and keep battling. He will now realise that what he was doing is not enough as you go up the levels. Get another couple of fights under his belt then get the rematch. I think the fight last night will be the making of him. The big issue for me is the weight he is massive for lightweight and the way he was getting hurt by them body shots might be down to how much weight he cuts to get down there. Time will tell. Good fight I want to see the rematch

Think Ritson needs a plan b in fights- can’t see him going any further otherwise- hope he can because he is entertaining

Can't be bothered to dig it out and know I wasn't alone in my sentiments, but as I posted earlier, I never really anticipated anything other than this for Ritson. We all know how difficult it is for most boxers to take their power with them up through the ranks, and even when walking through his opponents at British level he was looking pretty basic in terms of defence and footwork. Can still have a good solid career at Brit, possibly even Euro level, but for me he's a John Murray type who will always come unstuck against slicker fighters. No shame in that, but just think some of the hype around him was getting silly.
