That said, Crawford's last rumoured opponent was no great shakes, Luis Collazo (whom Khan has a win over). So Crawford, or his people, don't exactly seem to be going for the jugular in terms of exciting matchmaking.

Khan's still around, I'd argue, on there strength of his Olympic bronze medal. Olympians always get advantages and plenty of repeat opportunities.
say that to Fred Evans, who won the same medal as Khan did at a young age too at our home Olympics, yet has never had any advantages, opportunities or fame.

The criticisms seem to be on Khan about this fight.... it should be with Crawford - why is he fighting someone who really shouldn't be in the top 15 at Welterweight..... when's the last time he fought at Welterweight?

A few years ago I might have given Khan some hope but Crawford seems to have also now developed power and Khan's chin looks to have gotton worse.

I disagree that Khan is still living of his silver medal - he is still clearly quite a name in America who I don't feel value the Olympic medal (not Gold) quite like us Brits do. He's getting his shots cos he is always in exciting contests and holds some half decent wins at Welterweight - Alexander, Algeri etc.

It's better than Crawford v Collazo, but I'm not excited.

I'd simply see it as a routine Crawford fight. Would rather see Crawford in with a tougher chin, so he has to work harder breaking the opponent down.

Is there a big fight out there for Crawford?

Yeah, losses or not, he's a good watch. (Even when he got sparked by Garcia, it was competitive until round 3 :maybe: ).

His issues seem to be entirely of his own making.

Completely agree. Like him or loathe him, Khan is very rarely in a dull fight and that makes him watchable, even now when he is well past his peak. Even if Crawford splats him (which I expect he will) there will still be other big fights out there for him as for top guys at the weight, Khan is an established name that generates money but is very beatable.

Arum Hopes To Announce Crawford vs. Khan Next Week

As BS.com first reported a few days ago, British superstar Amir Khan has decided to accept a lucrative fight with WBO welterweight world champion Terence Crawford (34-0, 25 KOs).

The contest is going to land on April 20, as the main event of an ESPN pay-per-view card. The event could take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City or at several potential venues in Las Vegas.

"Everything looks good," Crawford's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, said to ESPN. "Hopefully, we'll be able to make an announcement next week. It's not done until it's done, but I'm very optimistic."

On Friday afternoon, Top Rank - who promote WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford - officially announced a press conference was set down for January 15th in London, to announced a scheduled world title defense against former world champion Amir Khan.

Both Crawford, Khan and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum will be present at the press conference.

Awful fight. Crawford, Spence and Davis are America's big names and are doing nothing for the sport. They have very clear opponents out there who they aren't being matched with. The ghosts of Mayweather and Jones are wailing in their ears.

I dare say that will be the case!

He will never fight Brook and I think everyone is past caring anyway by this stage.
Also Brook asking Eddie to MAKE THE FIGHT. He’s offered him. Hearn can’t force anyone to fight.
Khan doesn't like Brook. Why would he make him richer? It's a proper snidey, vindictive move from Khan by not giving him the fight but seeing as I don't have a horse in this race it's like a war in a distant land.

Most fighters would love the chance to beat up someone they don't like, thing with Khan is that he can make money whereas Brook is very limited now.

I don't really see how many more times Khan will still be appealing as a name punching bag after Crawford dispatches him.

I think, for a lot of us, watching Khan Vs Crawford is one time too many.
Khan could be matched a bit more evenly and I'd watch it. But what is evenly concerning Khan?
Sammy Vargas was pretty even

Yeah I'm pretty much with ya. Khan vs Crawford is a fairly meaningless fight to me. I mean Errol Spence is fighting a Lightweight in his next bout and even that is more interesting than fighting Khan.

Totally agree mate. In terms of talent I'd add Gary Russell to that list, too, fantastic fighter who seems content to trundle out once a year (though to be fair at least Russell's fought some top calibre guys, even if he literally only steps in the ring every twelve months).

The people blaming Khan for this have an axe to grind.

Thurman is going that way a bit as well unfortunately. Had some injuries but doesn't seem overly motivated to seek out the best when questioned in interviews.

can only see a real beatdown for khan, hopefully for him he gets twatted senseless early rather than a sustained beating.

I suspect he might win the first few rounds actually, but he'll get his ass beat from about Round 3 or 4 onward.

I must admit it is highly dissapoining regarding Thurman the last 2 years. And yes, he isn't calling out anyone, but at least he is being honest about what he is doing. He could blather on about Spence, Crawford, etc etc and face none of them. I get sick of guys like Miller calling out AJ, then fighting bum after bum. Maybe we will see Thurman fight the best again, when he is ready. Until then, I'm kinda refreshed not to hear a load of bravado for once.

Don't worry James, Khan doesn't have the punch resistance to endure a sustained beating. One punch and it'll all be over, probably inside three.
