The only argument for Joshua vs Miller is it looks great on paper.....you can't seriously make a case for this being a better fight than the likes of Ortiz?youve got people giving it what is Joshua supposed to do,wilder & fury are tied up with each other, yeah that's as may be,but to my knowledge Ortiz ain't retired is he...... Miller isn't the only option at all
I agree Oiky but criticising Hearn or God forbid Joshua doesn't go down well here just now.
No it doesnt

just personally think you could make a better fight than Miller, admittedly there is not much options at all,but Ortiz is at least one option, and a better option at that,

Ortiz would have been a good fight and would have been quite easy to make.
I'm in the very small camp that thinks Whyte deserves another shot since the first fight was years ago and wasn't for a world title.
At the end of the day Hearn gets to keep the money and title in house and that's an ideal position for him regardless of what he spins in public

I didn't call Bruno's chin great, but he took some big shots without going down. The usual pattern was that he'd take the first one or two and still have the wits to take a count, had he been inclined to, but he'd refuse and the shots that followed put him out on his feet.
This all hinges on whether we think he was already too far gone to clinch or go down once he was hurt, or whether he never entertained the idea when it could've saved him. It's somewhere between the two, I think, and we'll never know exactly where. But I'd never call his chin bad.

AJ's popularity is immense in the UK and if he does the business against Miller in June (should be sooner though) his star will rocket in the USA as well.
Who else EVER could fill Wembley stadium or the Cardiff Millenial eveytime they fight.
Although 2 fights a year is pathetic, Joshua is setting the standard by shooting down the contenders one by one. That's how history reflects well on champions when clear out a division. Vlad, Brezeale, Parker & Povetkin are all quality heavyweights.
Fury was nowhere to be seen in a boxing ring for over 2 1/2 years (and the Seferi fight was little more than a tame exhibition) and Wilder hasn't beaten many good contenders other than Ortiz.

Bruno had very good recovery it seemed but as you say he never willingly took a count to regroup and utilize that. You have to fault his trainers there. The first Tyson fight is a good example of him recovering quite quickly. He was on the floor inside the first 10 seconds or so and Tyson made sure he got a free punch in when Bruno was on his knee but Bruno still recovered quite quickly and made the round very competitive. That tells us a lot about his chin.

Ortiz didn't help himself though, he had the opportunity to showcase himself on Sky, but put in dismal performances both times.
had he looked a killer in either of those bouts, people would have been calling for the fight. However, Ortiz made himself easy to ignore.
Not that it really matters, Ortiz is no more dangerous than Povetkin imo and if Joshua beat him, the anti AJ/Hearn brigade would simply dismiss Ortiz as an old man, or an easy touch. Much like they did with Povetkin.

Ortiz stunk the place out twice. He's no more credible than Miller right now. It's just marking time, everyone knows that.

i doubt it, i mean i cant see the american crowd all singing "oh its anthony joshua". there quite subdued and aj is fighting an american , so it will be different experience for aj, he even won his medal in stratford london , it is funny but this could be quite a learning fight for him

He is very good, that's it,he's low reward & that's the biggest issue..
Ortiz is definitely top 5,imo he could have 10 stinkers & still be a better fight than Miller by a country mile

If Ortiz was deemed OK to fight Wilder then he should be OK to fight Joshua.
He was knocked out in a back and forth fight against Wilder who then drew with Fury.
He's easily a more legitimate challenger than Miller who is untested against top opposition.

Miller is as good and as sellable as anyone available at the moment.
AJ will get stick for anyone he fights other than Fury and Wilder.

I wouldn't give him stick for fighting Ortiz,I'd say that's a good fight & give him his due for fighting an opponent who can be tricky
