I have to admit I know very little about drugs and the effect of them, nor am I interested in becoming expert.
My experience of PEDs is limited to seeing how many fights that I want to see get cancelled because of them. You can't put the genie back in the lamp but how I miss the relative innocence of the seventies.

Read reports today suggesting that Matchroom has contacted Andy Ruiz Jr. to discuss a potential bout against AJ on the 1st June.
I don’t have any reliable sources for this rumour.

Ruiz Jr would be far more competitive than Hunter - hope Andy gets the nod!

I'm not so sure about that - but I do too.

No way, hunter would own Ruiz. He's stopped him before.

I've seen this one mentioned a few times now. Was hoping it was a joke. Seems not.
Not remotely a competitive fight. Doesn't even look the part. How a guy like Ruiz would 'earn' two world title shots with his level activity, whilst the likes of Whyte get nothing (obviously without discussing the relative price of the fighters).

When?
I'm checking amateur results and can't find this

The worst part is how unreliable he is. He's pulled out of about a half dozen fights because of mental issues. Arum doesn't often happily let a guy out of his contract. Especially with fury to feed.

I don't follow amatuer boxing anymore. Definitely heard it here from jam who does. Either way, hunter does everything better and you know he'll show up. Ruiz sucks.

I thought that Hunter was pretty much signed, sealed and delivered.
What happened?
Backlash against a little known guy who was fighting as a cruiserweight until last year, and now suddenly getting a heavyweight championship opportunity?

Me too. Seems when Hearn is involved many different 'facts' seem to fly around. We should find out today. Supposedly an announcement is coming.

Hunter has below average defense.
Ruiz with his speed picks him apart.

Hunter beat Ruiz in 2007 in the quarterfinals of the US championships at Super HW. He also beat Oscar Rivas at the 1st Olympic trials in 2008 also at SHW (an international tournament)

Long time ago in 3 round amateur bouts. Not relevant to what might occur today.
Ruiz would probably outpoint Hunter today in a dull bout.
Seems many UK fans hate Ruiz as an opponent. Almost all swear that they wouldn't part with any money to watch it on PPV.
But there really aren't too many fighters out there who would be preferable to Ruiz.
Ortiz has always been the popular replacement choice--except among those mysterious, hardcore Whyte fanatics--but I'm not certain that he would beat Ruiz.

Someone mentioned it and another poster challenged it, so I went and found it. Of course it's ancient history.

I wouldn't turn on my dazn, that I pay for monthly to watch it. With a name like Ruiz, you have to like him. Hunter would decision him widely.

You're reaching there.
I don't care for Ruiz. Not very interesting in the ring. I draw the line on Mexican or Mexican-American heavyweights.
But he's still one of, if not the best, available replacements.
Hunter needs some more work against serious heavyweights before he's ready Ruiz.

Fair enough on liking him. He isn't anymore proven and certainly not a better fighter than hunter. Hunter is even the bigger man. Neither troubles Joshua or draws any fans. Just hate to see a lazy piece of crap like Ruiz get rewarded.

Hunter presents an interesting opponent because he'd be the best pure boxer that AJ ever faced. Could make it interesting for a few rounds. Ruiz is a jiggly man.

Why is Ruiz lazy? Because of his body type? That's just how some guys look.
He goes rounds without falling apart, so I don't believe that he's lazy in the gym.
Ruiz has had 3 fights in the past year. He's working hard since taking off some time after the Parker defeat.
