They were engaged in daily eight round sparring sessions.

On the 16th September, 2017, Helenius’ manager, Markus Sundman, explained that he had had discussions with Eddie Hearn for the Dillian Whyte fight, hoping that things would be finalised the following week.

So it seems that Robert Helenius was already in the UK and training at least seven weeks prior to the Dillian Whyte fight-date.

Matchroom officially announced the bout to the media two-weeks beforehand. Helenius knew he was being lined-up to face 'The Body Snatcher' at least four weeks before this announcement though.

I’m a bit confused as to the reason why Robert Helenius is claiming he took the fight with only one weeks’ preparation. If he was ill, then he shouldn't have fought. He's basically admitted to defrauding fight fans.

There’s something not quite right about what he’s said.

In this article Roberts trainer Lindström is saying that shortly after the sparring camp with Joshua Helenius got bad case of flu and needed antibiotics to get well. He was not able to train for couple of weeks. He got the info two weeks before fight and so only had one week training camp.

The important part here is that Helenius was not in good shape for the Whyte fight but took the fight anyway since he needed the money. Using Whyte match as a way to measure the level of Helenius as a boxer is misleading.

If he was ill, then he shouldn't have fought. He's basically admitted to defrauding fight fans. I'm sure the BBBofC wouldn't even sanctioned the fight had they known about his illness resulting in him only having one week to prepare for the bout against Whyte.

To be honest, I think he looked for excuses for his defeat. Nothing was mentioned of his alleged illness before the fight.

I've seen Helenius' other bouts against Johann Duhaupas and Dereck Chisora and it makes me question whether anyone should consider him a world-rated fighter.

I hope I'm wrong, because 'The Nordic Nightmare' comes across as a real nice guy during interviews, so I want him to succeed, but his performances have been very erratic and often lacklustre.

Yeah it would have been very very smart of Helenius to tell his opponent he had the flu and couldn’t train before they fought. Practically genius!

That's not what I meant. Read my words again and pay attention this time! FFS!

I'm thinking about the punters sat ringside who paid for transport, accomodation, food, drink etc. As well as those who placed a bet on the outcome of the Whyte-Helenius fight or those that paid Sky Box Office fees.

They weren't privvy to information that may have led them to believe the bout was a blatant mismatch, with the event not being worth watching or spending a lot of money on.

Eddie Hearn only decided to include the Whyte-Helenius fight at the last-minute to strengthen the undercard (to justify the PPV), because the main event was weakened by Kubrat Pulev's late withdrawal from the AJ bout (with Carlos Takam being the late substitute).

Of course, there are also health and safety concerns (assuming Helenius' claims are accurate about only having one week to prepare for the Whyte bout).

The promoter creates hype for a fight, under the pretence it’s going to be competitive, but secretly hiding the fact that one of the competitors is woefully underprepared… well that’s just fraudulent and dangerous! If Helenius hid this information, then he’s committed an act of fraud and very likely breached BBBofC health and safety rules.

When Manny Pacquiao blamed his shoulder injury for his loss against Mayweather, he was subject to a $5m class action lawsuit filed by a whole host of fight fans who felt deceived, because he decided to face Floyd regardless of the handicap. The situation is comparable to Helenius claiming he was only well enough to have a one-week training camp for the Whyte bout.

Check my previous comment about Helenius "basically admitting to defrauding fight fans."

Sorry, did you think I wanted to engage you in conversation? The points you’re trying to make are stupid, the justifications you’re reaching for are stupid, the attempted citation of a previous case that was thrown out is stupid, and you believing I wanted to discuss this with you beyond laughing at your post is stupid.
