I remember Mike Tyson's rant about eating Lennox's children or saying if Ruddock doesn't die it doesn't count. That got me hyped up for those fights as a kid. I don't expect good taste in a sport where people knock each other unconscious.
Your last line pretty much sums up it up perfectly.

People here love watching guys bash each others heads to a pulp. But for some reason get all huffy and sanctimonious when the spectre of legalized murder is raised by a fighter.
