To be fair to Ricky, he’s been consistent with his completely bizarre and contrary-to-all-evidence overrating of Whyte for quite some time now.

the issue is not Joshuas chin....

its the fact that he gets 'tagged' seemingly easily for one with such physical advantages over most opponents. and when tagged.....there is a monent of vulnerability that opponents should take advantage of..........Ruiz did, Wlad, Povetkin and Whyte did not.

for the future.......each time AJ gets hurt from this point forwards, he is likely to get jumped on. Its like a computer fighter whose energy goes from green to red very quickly.

he has to be jumped on while 'red' and not be allowed to get 'green' again.

Except Ruiz didn’t jump on him. He stood off him and waited for another opportunity.

Joshua doesn’t get tagged easily.

He got clipped against whyte like once. Took it, recovered, destroyed the guy.

Got caught against Wlad hard, but Wlad was fantastic that night. Got up, stopped him.

When else has he been in trouble or caught regularly, really? He was barely bothered vs Parker. Fairly routine distance fight also vs Takam, steamrolled breazeale, similarly dismantled everyone else without much return fire.

He had a bad night vs Ruiz. Call it underprepared, underestimated him, whatever. I think folks will be shocked by the rematch if this is the enduring narrative from the first one.

He'll be OK. After he wins the rematch handily all will be forgiven. I'd have to favor wilder now though.

Surprised you think he wins a rematch after the schooling he got, Ruiz is better in every way (bar 1 shot power AJ has in early rounds before he gasses).

Oddly enough, the Ruiz fight made little difference in my opinion on Joshua/Wilder.

Don't forget that Ruiz hit the canvass first. Although I'm sure Wilder has enough about him to get up, would he have met fire with fire the way Ruiz did?

Usually when Wilder is hurt he backs up, which is exactly what Joshua wants opponents to do as it helps him set up the big right hand.

Of course Wilder may have got to him first, but that was always a danger, regardless of what we saw vs Ruiz.

Yeah, I think so. I hardly imagine DW would have gone into a shell. It would have been a brutal firefight .

Both of them are highly vulnerable. I just went from favoring aj to favoring wilder. Never had any certainty past one of them getting knocked out. I couldn't imagine Ruiz doing that to deontay.
