Yes he will. An interim fight sure as hell wouldn't change anything except for losing his rematch clause and the terms that came with it.

Taking an easy interim fight would make it look like Joshua needs to go back to school to work the bugs out.
Suddenly the former unbeaten heavyweight champion becomes just another work in progress.

If Ruiz gets past AJ I think he will hold the belts for a long time because he will be a cash cow. A Mexican heavyweight champ to many and probably a great white hope to others. He will be matched carefully by Harmon to ensure big profits. AJ and Wilder both feasted on guys that could probably not walk and chew gum at the same time. Ruiz will also feast on that level of opposition

It seems that AJ’s game-plan for the Ruiz Jr. rematch is to constantly walk backwards in straight lines, throwing jabs, whilst refraining from moving his damn head! (just kidding)

On a serious note though, Joshua’s training montage videos that he keeps posting via various social media platforms has a distinct lack of proof that he’s learning to move around the ring laterally or using effective head movement when throwing his combos.
AJ always seems to be moving in straight lines, standing straight-up, with his head remaining stationary, hence the reason why Andy Ruiz Jr. describes him as the robot.
Also, his elbows are being held far too high for my liking, because his torso is like a tree trunk, tailor-made for short stocky lumberjacks that are eager to chop him down gradually with body-shots in order to fell that tree.
Anthony Joshua is a very muscular guy, arguably carrying far too much muscle mass, so if his plan is to stick and move (as suggested by this video), whilst keeping Ruiz Jr. at arm’s length (at the end of his jab), then he’s going to have to do some serious work on his cardio!
To be honest, perhaps I’m being overly-critical and reading too much in snippets of training montage videos that probably don’t reflect the entirety of AJ’s training regimen.

Your bibles are a waste of energy. Joshua will just come into the rematch fighting smarter and pick off Ruiz on the way to a comfortable decision or late stoppage. ..among other things mentioned here and elsewhere, I believe AJ wasn't psychologically prepared to box outside of his comfort zone..to be on the safe side, Hearn should pay Ruiz extra and make sure Joshua keeps boxing in Britain..as a boxing fan though, I'll be POSITIVELY surprised if Hearn allows AJ to make a rematch in the States/Mexico...

Normaly you would'nt take notice of , video's released , but i watch that and think ,,,,,what the ,,,, IF thats the sort of training there doing , some one wants to take Josh to one side and say , What the hell you doing , Just can't see what running backwards on a treadmill is gonna do for his footwork EXCEPT get him in the habit of running backwards in a straight line . Gets no benefit from that at all , he does'nt have the time to train like that , he should be practicing his moving to the side , back on angles , pivoting ,, ect . If he does 10 minuites of that rubbish its another hour to get him out of the bad habit he just developed .
A good coach DOES'NT allow his boxer to get in bad habits ,,, whats the towel buisness were there flies around he wanted to swat AFTER Aj threw his one jab , while once again , you could count when it was coming ,, he trains like a robot , that why he fights like a robot
