TBF though, I'd bet a lot of boxers have no idea about Saudia Arabia's backgroundNightmare Roy wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 12:18 https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.inde ... html%3famp
Anyone who was really humble wouldn’t want to fight in a place that does this to kids IMO.

Maybe not but I’m sure he’ll be getting this sort of think sent to him left right and centre now.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 13:21TBF though, I'd bet a lot of boxers have no idea about Saudia Arabia's backgroundNightmare Roy wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 12:18 https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.inde ... html%3famp

I mean, you’re so very wrong. Yes, Britain, the US have many many flaws but they’re not chopping people’s head off for the great crime of having sex or giving women life sentences for showing their face in public or killing teenagers for simply protesting tsheir schools practices etcoverhand_right wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 12:49 Saudi Arabia is unpleasant in many ways, but many of our other close 'allies' are similarly odious. The Saudis and the CIA co-funded the mujahideen, later Al Qaeda, so let's refuse to fight in America. The UK trained Islamic State fighters in Libya, so let's refuse to fight here as well! And the western media trumpeted war in Iraq with fake WMD propaganda, so let's refuse to even fight on TV!
Ultimately these are professional athletes with a very short shelf life. If I was offered gazillions to fight in Saudi Arabia, I wouldn't turn it down on some daft principle.
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
I couldn't even contemplate going to a boxing match that didn't have beersies. How on earth are you supposed to sooth your throat after shouting;
"You fat bastard, you fat bastard"
And;
"Who ate all the pies?"

Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
Really f*cking annoying the way Saudi Arabia is trying to horn in on things I enjoy. To get me to do anything in Saudi Arabia, you'd have to be offering me so much money it'd break the country.
Re: Saudi Arabia to Host Andy Ruiz vs. Anthony Joshua 2?
I remember looking at the crowd during the coverage of the Khan Dib fight and wondering where the women were. There were a few in the crowd, but it was still the biggest sausage fest I've ever seen at a boxing match.

Ya, and sometimes in Japan too the men wear kimono like stuff that looks comfy as well. The UK needs to step up the game. Not all this tight restricted stuff.

The UK turns a blind eye to all those practices, including worst ones you didn't list, because the Saudis are our 'allies', but point to those practices as reasons why we need regime change (installation of puppet govt) in various other Mid East countries the Saudis and various other 'allies' dislike. We co-finance all of these delightful cultures, it's not as black & white as you seem to think.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 15:43I mean, you’re so very wrong. Chelyabinsk would be quite an adventure, indeed. It is at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, just north of Kazakhstan. Moscow it is not. You would get a good dose of the real Russia.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 19:00I agree I don’t know why any Brit would risk going there right nowCaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 17:21

Chelyabinsk is the city that had the meteor explode over it in 2013 ( I think).

I heard someone say before that it's like the 'redneck' centre for Russia. Sergey 'those burnt people' Kovalev at least seems cut from that cloth

It is a major industrial center with all that brings in Russia. Politically correct? Not so much.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 Aug 2019, 22:23 I heard someone say before that it's like the 'redneck' centre for Russia. Sergey 'those burnt people' Kovalev at least seems cut from that cloth![]()
