Why would you not be wearing a seat belt?

Reassuringly reports suggest his injuries are not life threatening.

Take those "not life threatening" reports with a pinch of salt until you see hear his own words/statement.
He could be in a very bad way.

Oh my God terrible news, that could very likely be the end of his career, lucky to survive

I feel sick, what an idiot, the world at his feet then drives at speed without a seatbelt... I doubt he will fight again... tragic.
but could’ve been much worse by the sounds of it

Hope Errol makes a full and fast recovery. I did mentally gasp at the clip and wonder how different this story would be if someone had been on the other side of the road at the time though

Ya, it's a fair point. Hope the champ pulls through, but dangerous driving is a seriously stupid thing to do, not only for yourself but for others. Some people saying it's just youthful exuberance, but Spence is about 30 years old

A friend of mine in Cornwall lost his two children (ages where roughly 12 and 14) and one of his son's friends (same age) in a car crash about 25 years ago. On the way back home from treating them to a Plymouth Argyle match when hit head-on by a reckless driver. The car was smashed and his daughter and the friend are believed to have died instantly. My friend, Steve, was trapped in the drivers seat and could not move but had to listen to his son say he was hurting, was scared and just wanting his dad to help. He listened to him die.
Every year, on their birthdays and the anniversary he will post on social media a warning about driving.

That's horrific mate, I hope Spence makes a full recovery but not wearing a seatbelt, I cant help but lose a little sympathy, if he was speeding then even less

Absolutely. The video is horrific to see, and partly as he must have been going at a fair old clip

At the end of the video clip it looks like a body is laid just to the left of the lampost that the car has just rolled by.

I couldn't care less about the seatbelt to be honest. It's driving like a cockend in his Ferrari that concerns me.
Obviously wish him a full recovery but he could have easily taken someone else's life driving like that and at that speed

strangely the fact that he was not wearing a seatbelt will have saved his life. being thrown from the car will mean multiple fractures with potential head injury.
if he had stayed in that motor i feel he would have died
he wont box again. condition now described as critical. this will mean head injuries and in an induced coma on a ventilator.

ESPN: Unified welterweight world titlist Errol Spence Jr. was in stable condition Thursday evening at a Dallas hospital after being involved in a serious one-car accident.
"Spence is awake and responding and is listed in stable condition," his representatives said in a statement. "He didn't sustain any broken bones or fractures but does have some facial lacerations. He is expected to make a full recovery."
Luckiest man on the planet.

Why try and second guess someones condition with such certainty? What does it achieve?
