Unfortunatelly, Povetkin is not as wealthy as he suppose to be, due to his bad investments (with his brother and alone).
Actually, as it was rumored in Russian forums, most of his last paychecks went to his creditors.
So, he need some more paychecks, and he’ll take any fight with good money...
What type of investments
The last and the largest fail was Kovrov-center, he invested in building new business-center (50%). The project failed and SberBank demand his money...
I just googled in russian and it’s all where-(

Didn’t Povetkin earn about $13.5m from his bouts against Klitschko and Joshua? That’s an awful lot of money to have spent.
That’s unfortunate! If he keeps on fighting, he’ll end up being used as a big-name stepping stone gatekeeper for prospects.
According to Ryabinski, Povetkin’s check will be around 500k usd....nice

In spite of not adding many pounds, Povetkin looks fat. He is probably cashing out.

He pretty much cashed out against AJ don't you think?
Let's not forget, this guy has weighed between 220 to 229 all his career, never has he come in above 230.. But as you get older, it doesn't get easier does it? I don't think Povetkin will fold or 'let' Hunter win..

He sort of just looks normal Povetkin to me, maybe a bit softer than his peak roid days but not really much change. His age is a bigger issue than his appearance

I like Povetkin as a fighter and have watched him closely over the years. But I really hope Hunter wins. The heavyweight division needs to continue to get "younger." And the only way its going to happen is if the young up and coming prospects and contenders start beating out the older guys. Its kind of a sad necessity but its a necessity nonetheless.

I agree. I was trying to sum up my thoughts about Povetkin and this says it all. He's just been around too long now--12 YEARS in the top ten. He's not going to make a run at the title again. He had his 2 real shots, lost both times, and never fought many fellow title-contenders: he beat Byrd and Chambers early on, then later beat Chagaev, and was supposed to fight Wilder, but other than that he beat an endless string of mid-level guys over the years to keep his ranking up. If he beats Hunter he'll stay in the top ten for 2-3 more years before he takes on another fighter capable of beating him.

Why is that a surprise? Where are povetkins minions? Was it just asjtac, aka illya, aka adislav, etc.... Fairly recently a lot on here thought hunter would lose to that oaf Ustinov.

He is, more an observation than pinpointing you(obviously didn't read that way), looks like that big povetkin fan base was just wilder haters.

Hunter is career heaviest in the most important fight of his career. He ate his way to heavyweight and now he is fighting a guy who only lost to Klitschko and Joshua.
Povetkin is the clear favorite to me. Hunter hasn't tasted that kind of power.

I favour Hunter. I've always rooted for Povetkin, but he's an ageing fighter, who has shown some decline recently, while being less-dimentional than before. Hunter's style will be a nightmare for Povetkin, if Michael is ready. And Hunter has shown prorgess recently, contrary to Povetkin.

In the long run, a win would benefit Hunter more..
I believe this is a WBA eliminator..

It was a great slugfest. Special respect for 40 year old Povetkin. Hunter did a mistake with a fast start. Should have been methodical against such an experienced hard-hitting boxer. I scored for Povetkin 115-113.

I had it 116-112 for Hunter personally. Very good fight. Hunter was able to hurt Povetkin more times throughout than Povetkin ever managed to hurt him it seemed to me, but both undoubtedly had their moments.
A rematch or seeing either of them just continue on against other contenders and big name fighters is welcome.

Hunter landed the hardest shots probably. But still Povetkin took more rounds, as for me.

Very good, close fight. Though I thought Povetkin did just enough to win it, a draw is more than acceptable.
Could have been a knockdown scored against Hunter.
Rematch this.

Hunter needs to go back to crusier weight, i think his stamina helped him against old 40years old who passed his prime few years
