Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kamil Szeremeta - April 2020?

BoxingNews24 is an admittedly very sh!tty site but there is a lot of truth to that tbh
They can be very biased when the want to be.
Part of me agrees with you, but there is a part of me that remembers GGG’s words when he announced his deal with DAZN.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑23 Jan 2020, 17:22 Golovkin is fighting his IBF mandatory. There is nothing wrong with that after a grueling previous fight. The guy will be turning 38 ...
A lot of boxers say shît and do the opposite. Everyone does it tbh. It’s just normal human behaviour.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑23 Jan 2020, 20:36Part of me agrees with you, but there is a part of me that remembers GGG’s words when he announced his deal with DAZN.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑23 Jan 2020, 17:22 Golovkin is fighting his IBF mandatory. And his penchant for facing the likes of Kamil Szeremeta and Steve Rolls, as well as facing someone dire like Vanes Martirosyan (when he was previously with HBO) is clearly contradictory in nature, especially when there are better fighters calling out Golovkin that he refuses to face.
You’re a fan of his that passionately defends GGG’s honour at all cost, I get that, but even you can’t pretend that Golovkin’s actions don’t contradict his own words.
You’re welcome to try though.![]()

Now that could be the reason why this match was made, as a bigger fish opponent has been lined up however this remains to be seen.
Right now, given I’ve never heard of the opponent and even though the opponent is a mandatory it is disappointing. It was ripe time for a rematch. A rematch that would be competitive, contains controversy around the result of the first and a fight that could be made. Why not?
On the other hand the Golovkin fan in me sees him in a new vulnerable light and would like him to minimise his damage/pain.
My guess is he had to make a quick turnaround due to DAZN demands, perhaps. 4 more fights to go. Let's hope he can keep fit and keep motivated.Thomastearns wrote: ↑26 Jan 2020, 10:54lazboy wrote: ↑24 Jan 2020, 00:10 The boxing fan in me would’ve liked a Derevenchenko rematch if there were not bigger fish to fry such as Canelo, BJS or even Callum Smith.

Same here. Glad that GGG changed his damaging training regime for something more sensible.
He may be one of the most naturally toughest men to have ever walked intro a boxing ring - but even Gennady Golovkin is human (as far as we know).
Given his age I'm still surprised he's planning such a quick return to the ring after that murderous war with Sergiy Derevyanchenko. I'm guessing Sergiy will fancy taking a slightly longer break before any return to the ring.
Thanks to Sky Sports Boxing you can watch that epic battle here once again in HD.
and a bit more on the new training regime here.

Andrade is probably chasing a Brian Rose rematch, only that could eclipse him fighting a beast like Luke Keeler. The years go by and boo boo's 1 fan makes hundreds more excuses than Andrade has good wins . Funny thing is this Kamil is even better than Andrade's last opponent, and GGG's last opponent is better than anyone Andrade has facedBandog wrote: ↑12 Feb 2020, 20:46 At GGG's stage in his career, mandatories are used as an excuse, when unification fights are right in front of him. Why waste his last couple of years on that? He turned down opportunities to fight Lara, a slick south paw. I'm guessing it's the same reason he doesn't want to fight Andrade.
Margo, are you OK? It's no contest, GGG's career shits all over Andrade's. Andrade is young enough to change that but he ain't gonna do that fighting total f@cking sh!t like Cool Hands Keeler, as I said even Kamil is much better than that. Having a single random weird fan who sucks boo boo balls isn't going to get him a legacy or bigger paydaysboxing_rocks wrote: ↑12 Feb 2020, 23:10Margo, are you OK? I'm a fan of Andrade's skills and talent. Some think he is boring, but most thought Floyd was too.

Andrade vs Derevo/Charlo/Jacobs/Korobov would be better than ANY of his previous opponents. You have to step up first to demand Canelo or GGG.Bandog wrote: ↑21 Feb 2020, 07:41I'm a fan of Andrade's skills and talent. Some think he is boring, but most thought Floyd was too.
Call me crazy, but I'd rather see Andrade vs GGG than Szeremetas and Rolls and Vanes M. I also think Andrade vs Canelo would be much better than Canelo fighting Amir Khan, Rocky Fielding, and Chavez Jr.
