Luis Nery vs. Emmanuel Rodriguez CANCELLED

The Luis Nery vs. Emmanuel Rodriguez bantamweight fight has been cancelled due to safety reasons for the Deontay Wilder vs. Luis Ortiz 2 card on Saturday night. Nery (30-0, 24 KOs) came in ONE pound over the bantamweight limit at 119lbs, and Rodriguez (19-1, 12 KOs) didn’t accept the financial offer to have the fight go ahead for the card.

Rodriguez not fighting due to safety reasons
They’re saying it’s a safety concern for why Rodriguez didn’t take the fight, but it was only one pound that Nery came over, not 4 or 5.

It’s unclear how much extra money Rodriguez wanted to get. Nery’s purse for the card was $300,000 and Rodriguez’s $70,000. Rodriguez might have wanted more than Nery, 24, was willing to give.

Former WBC bantamweight champion Nery was the A-side fighter, who many believe is a future star. Rodriguez is just a good basic fighter, who is coming off of a 2nd round knockout loss to Naoya Inoue. He’s NOT considered a future star like Nery.
----------------------
In another weight-related situation, Julio Ceja failed to make the 122-pound limit by 4.5 pounds, but his PPV bout against WBA super bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa is still on. Ceja cannot win the belt and it will become vacant if Ceja wins the fight.

Nery is a scumfuck weight-cheating drug-cheating pudendum, BTW.

Just like to make that clear every time he fights.

BTW Ruthless: What your unattributed copypasta doesn't infer is A) Nery's long & storied history of being a weight-cheating steroid-cheating etc etc & B) the fact that the pudendum refused to try to lose the extra weight, instead trying to buy his way into a weight-advantage.

pudendum that he is.

Are you suggesting Ruthless’s post may not be his own original material? I feel lied to :oo

Also, fvck off Nery

Quite right. Weight limits are there for a reason. If ur too lazy or cant make the weight then move up a division

He couldn't be bothered losing a pound and went straight into negotiating a deal regards to purses..

Ceja came in 4 pounds over for his world title fight.. I think at that point they don't even ask you to lose it.. Figueroa believes he can win and good on him.

Ha, we complain about 25 for a PPV, these yanks charge like 60 for this card without its best undercard fight even going through now

So what, just the main plus the sh!tty LSC fight and Ceja-Fig?

They've bumped Leduan Barthelemy vs Eduardo Ramirez to the PPV card.

How fantastic wud it be if Ortiz did actually stop Wilder ?

Unlikely as it may seem I feel its what he is gonna try and do rather than go into the later rounds and gas ..
May as well go for it .

It’s an interesting one because DW didn’t have to take this fight, and no mistake Ortiz is still an absolute beast, he hits hard enough to win the lottery here; it seems unlikely because it’s not in the script, but he very nearly took the American out last time and was only one punch away, could happen again. Of course you have to go with the American to win this, but he might have to walk a tightrope.

He said he wanted to put all his disputed wins to bed..

Typical Wilder fight so far..

He should use the flipping jab. Find the range. He just wants to throw windmills.

Watching this, my impression is no way Ortiz wins a fight like this even if he stays on his feet and goes the distance
